Jeramie
We have been pen raising two hogs for several months. We we got them they were all of 20-25lbs. I took the bar off yesterday, he weighed in at 272! I have been feeding them nothing but corn for about the past 3-4 weeks. In two weeks time I will have fresh Ham, Bacon, Pork Ribs, roast, etc.... I CANT WAIT! The gilt will go at the end of November. I expect her to weigh in at about 250 - 260 at that point! Even more fresh pork.... Hard to beat the homegrown meats.... wtnhunt
We have considered raising a few. Things keep going the way they are we probably will. Gonna keep a calf this year for the freezer.
hammerforged
Dang it! Now you got me drooling all over my keyboard. I hate it when that happens. Nothing better than fresh hunted or homegrown.
dbHunterNY
we have raised a couple. my parent's have beef cattle, but we've only done one of them. a beefer is an all day venture. definitely fills the freezer though. kind of makes you wonder where the rest of the cut went when you order a better cut steak at a restaurant. Nothing better than fresh hunted or homegrown. I love fresh meat but raising a hog or cow on corn is next to impossible to beat!
