AceArcher
Was out this weekend and didn't see much daytime activity. Had does around me in mornings and evenings but only horn I saw was and 6pt that was by himself. 80 degree temps probably have something to do with it. Good looking scrapes just not bucks coming to them in the daylight hours and no chasing activity seen yet. Next week/two or so should see real good activity starting up if temps cool somewhat. I think rain and cold weather blowing in tonight. Post your IL conditions and Rut update here.
MUDRUNNER
Pretty miserable hunting last weekend. Hunted Friday evening, all day Sunday, and Monday morning without seeing a single deer. I can't remember the last time i sat in a stand so much and didn't see a thing. Sunday afternoon I was drenched in sweat by the time i reached my evening set. Like you, we're seeing a lot of fresh scrapes, but their only getting hit at night. Looks like the weather will be better this weekend, so hopefully movement picks up. fly
Central/West Illinois The chasing phase has just started! Bucks are chasing, grunting and getting crazy! Now is the time boys! Get in a tree every chance you get! I'd go tonight, except I'll be headed to Busch Stadium for Game 6 of the World Series! Go CARDS!

hoosierhunter
Hopefully IN is close enough to help out here. I'm getting some response to calling, but not the all out "put a whoppin down:" response. I know the little deer are acting a little silly now. I know the projection for the rut is 4 days after the new moon on Nov 10th. I've started using vacation time next week. I think a big deer can be killed right now, but next weekend should really be a good time to be in the woods.
Tominator
Terrible wet here in Ohio. Really slowing down the taking of crops. I'm sure there's tons of deer hiding out in the corn.
ruttinbuc
The standing corn does make a difference. They cut a lot here back in September. Deer were quite visible after the cut feeding on the loss. A month or so later all the sign is in and around that standing corn. I recently walked along the edge of a partially cut field and almost every ear was stripped to the cob.
dartonman
OMG....I saw a small doe really bleating, and she had 7 bucks grunting, growling, and snort wheezing and fighting around her.....I didnt get a chance at one of the huge monarchs, but did get a 10 point out of all of it....I can't believe these goofball deer in Illinois....then when heading home, almost hit a herd of bucks chasing a doe down the road !!!! Starting to get totally weird in Northern Illinois...al

Arrowslinger
Saw a beautiful buck crossing the road last night Lake County 43 just north of 137 to bad I live in the worst county in Illinois (Lake) to try and get land owner permissions
00DodgeGuy
I'll still haven't seen any chasin' here in central IL, but did rattle in 3 different 8 pointers Saturday evening. All were within 25 yards just not what I am looking for.
need2hunt
Been seeing younger bucks cruising and bumping does the last couple weeks. There was a good buck taken the next property over last week and another good one seen. This morning was the first time I saw a good buck, cornering some does down into a remote draw that is unfortunately on the other side of the fence. ilhnter
I haven't seen much activity in S. Illinois. No good bucks what so ever, but did see a few spikes and small bucks hanging around a few does this morning. There weren't chasing or dogging the does, but were following behind them about 50yds or so. I wish they would hurry up and get some of this corn out from around us. Good luck in IL everyone! MUDRUNNER
Man, just as quick as the switch flips on, it can swith off. Last weekend was great. Seen a lot of deer, and i shot a nice 8 that I called in. My cousin and a buddy were hunting Thursday and Friday, and seen 40 deer between the two of them, with several bucks chasing. Three of us hunted Saturday and I seen two little bucks...that was it between all three of us. Not sure if it was the wind or if the bucks are in lock down right now.
