Spring Sporting Clay Get Together

How about a Virginia member get together? Shooters are invited to attend a spring sporting clay shoot on March 26, 2005 at Shady Grove Hunting Preserve and Sporting Clays in Remington, Virginia. Please RSVP so I can have a count of how many shooters will be attending. We have to make sure they have enough pullers for that day. How about we plan on a morning shoot so we can get in a couple rounds? The cost is $34 per 100 rounds of clays. This does not include ammo.

Anyhow, the game is sporting clays. Shots are anywhere from 25 yards out to 50 yards. Each round consists of 50 shots. You will need a gun that can hold at least 2 shots. Pumps, semi autos, over/unders, and sidexsides are all welcome. Ammo should be 2 3/4", low brass, #7 1/2 or #8 shot. There is no need to use anything over 1 1/8 oz of shot (no magnums or high brass field loads). If you plan to shoot 100 rounds you will need at least 4 boxes of shells. Screw in chokes are the preferred method but fixed chokes will also work just fine. Improved cylinder will break most , if not all, of the targets they throw. A vest or pouch to hold your ammo is suggested, and hearing protection is mandatory, eye protection is highly suggested.

This is not a hard core competition shoot. Just a bunch of shooters getting together for some fun. Like all times dealing with weapons, safety is the first priority. Guns will not have any more than 2 shells loaded at one time. Guns will not be loaded until the shooter is in the shooting box.

Please get back with me by the 15th of March so I can make the necessary reservations.

You are killing me. I have waited for you to set this up and I am out of town all that week. I am leaving that morning to take my son and a crew of scouts to the Boy Scout High Adventure Camp at SeaBase in the Florida Keys to get SCUBA certifications.

If the date changes, or if you do it again, please let me know.

I want to go, but I get back from the Boy Scout Seabase camp late on April 2nd. And yes, when you say April 9th, I will have to say that that is the day that my son has his Eagle Scout Court of Honor. After that I am open. It seems my life is planned out at least a month ahead on Saturdays. ****, I'll take a day off from work and do it during the week if you want. I would love a good excuse to take a day off from work.

Na, this will be the date since on April 4th I go back to rotating shift work. I ony get 2 weekends a month off and the wifie gets most of them.

I will probably try to schedule one this summer also.
