Ohiobucks
Climbing treestands are awesome. I’ve been through my share of them, and just found the one I’m going to use for a long, long time – the Summit Goliath. First climber I used was a platform only, I would hug the tree as I ascended or descended. Next was an API Bowhunter. Recently tried a Lone Wolf sit and climb, which was only decent IMO. I’ve used Summit stands for about 6-7 years running now. First Summit I had an open front type, then a Razor that I’ve enjoyed thoroughly, and just started using a Goliath SD. My Razor weighs in at 20lbs, the Goliath is 21lbs. I thought his was going to be noticeable while backpacking it, but not at all. The thing that attracted me to the Goliath was its extra width. Who would have thought that an extra inch or so wide would make such a difference, it is amazing. Comfortable, solid, and quiet. The SD is Summit’s new “dead-metal” technology, making this stand sound dead, no clangs or echoing metal sounds at all. Once at hunting height, it is like a Lazy Boy 20ft up. If you’re in the market for a new climber, check out a Summit Goliath. Best climbing stand I’ve used, ever. wtnhunt
Good to hear the positive review there Tom. Have a summit python, front bar on the stand is able to swing up as a shooting rest for gun hunting or can be down as a foot rest for bowhunting, far and away the most comfortable stand I have sat in. Comfortable enough to fall asleep in. Not all seats that look like summit seats are quite as comfortable. Have a gorilla greyback climber I picked up at wal mart that the seat looks real similar to summits, but is not the same, stand actually has a bar across the back the hits right in the lumbar area no matter how you adjust it. WHISKEYSWAMP
I've been thinking about getting one... extra width will be nice for cold weather clothes. I have two API grand slams that I've had for probably 10 years. They are very comfortable as well and will probably become fixed stands when I decide to get a Goliath.
