shockwave
How is it possible to make a perfect 30 yard shot then 2 days later miss an 8 point at 15 yards quartering away ??

ruttinbuc
It happens. First thing you need to do when a good one shows up is breath.
jbeck
That's why we do it. LOL been there done that, like I said in previous posts I like to shake like a leaf, punch my release while lifting my bow arm at a high rate of speed. this allows no chance of a buck jumping 2 feet in the air and making me get a good shot on him. LMBROF, have fun with it and enjoy the ride.
dbHunterNY
a whole ton of ways other than just the "buck fever" ones. just try again that's all. aim for the bottom third and focus on making the shot and not shooting the deer. my biggest buck to date i watched running around for a good 20 minutes and i was fine. i started thinking about antler and shooting him then my right leg started to shake like crazy. took some breathes and focus on shooting like it was a target. the arrow may have grazed a tiny twig or something else may have happened that you didn't notice. like i said you just have to start again and not even think about that miss or any other shots. that's what i have to do anyway. Rhino
That's easy to do...one of my best friends killed a P&Y 10 point at ~17 yards Saturday morning then proceeded to miss a doe at about the same yardage that afternoon. Go figure! At least he saved the miss for the doe!
Stinger-Hunter
Here's what I do: First thing is tell myself to relax, breath. I do that for about 5-10 seconds. When a shot presents itself, I pull back, tell myself to relax... breath... I take a few breaths and then aim small - the smallest distinguishable point behind the shoulder - breath, breath then release. Anytime I haven't done that - I've missed. When I've said to myself, "I'll take a shot and see what happens... I miss. There is a process. Ted Nugent has a process, while pulling back he says, In the name of the father, son and holy ghost - aims, breaths and BAM! Create a process that relaxes you - relax your back and shoulders, breathe... then release.
Jeramie
Buck Fever? It happens sometimes.... I like to think im past all of that and numb enough to get the job done but i havent seen anything over 140" on hoof in a very long time! If something that large stepped in front of my string it may be a different story.
