back40
Just watched the Bone Collector where Waddell was in Alaska. He spotted a wolf with a radio tracking collar and made some comments about wanting to use his moose bear tag to shoot the wolf but having to shoot the collar off. I guess he failed to see that a wolf tracking study is of no benefit to the hunting community. Sorry..I just found his comments in poor taste and contributes to the other issues I have with some of the hunter "celebs" and their comments/actions exhibited on their shows. aujack
Lighten up, he was clearly kidding. It was only a joke.
Bowtech_archer07
Lighten up, he was clearly kidding. It was only a joke. I agree. If Michael is anything, he's not a poacher. He likes to kid around and have fun while he's hunting which is what hunting is all about. I believe he says in one episode that his bear tag is also good for wolves in Alaska. stevebeilgard
i agree that he was only joking around. i know i do/did that all the time. he's an asset to our sport.

jbeck
Heck i have a radio collared doe behind the house and I wanted to shoot her and throw the colar on a passing train. LOL they would be saying this doe is doing 50 mph along the river headed for Harrisburg. It's all in fun.
Hoosierbuck
Fact: When I was in AK last (granted, its been a while) you could hang a higher priced tag on a lower priced animal. Moose NR tag = $450; Caribou NR tag = $250; wolf NR tag = $35. You could legally hang your moose tag on a caribou or wolf, for example. If he shot a wolf and tagged it with a moose or bear tag = legal. Just by way of explanation. I have never been anywhere else that did that but I don't get around much. HB it's still that way. so, waddell could have done what he joked about and it would all be quite legal. i'm not sure about shooting one with a collar, but i do believe it's alright. The_Kat
Waddell is a two-faced joke. That's all I'm going to say. I think most of you know by now what he did to his family. Can't even bring myself to watch his shows anymore. A real shame. Always thought he was a stand up guy/family man. Let he without sin cast the first stone....... Alls I will say to this is you were not there, nor do you know the details of their divorce. You have heard rumors and hearsay just like I have, but there are two sides to EVERY story. He still supports his children....he is a good man.
Squirrelhunter91
Clearly he was joking. I saw that episode when it first aired last summer. If any of you read his biography, the whole poaching and shooting the radio collared wolf joke would make more sense to you. Waddell grew up very poor and at times they would have just corn for dinner. No meat or greens. Just corn.
Ravin R10 man
Wow..first I heard he was divorced...as for the wolf jokes..dont mind that at all..Alaska has options most states do not as far as tag switching..
fly
Way I see it Michael is a good dad and does more for hunting than most. Just from the videos one can see he takes his son Mason hunting a lot. Sure - there is a lot more to being a dad than taking your kids hunting, but it sure is a good start. As far as his marriage / divorce I don't know enough about it to say anything and unless someone on here knows Michael personally and has spoken with him about it why make a comment at all???? As far as the wolf thing, pretty ridiculous even bringing it up in the first place. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I found on the internet shooting a wolf with a radio collar on is legal. Now if the issue is with "shooting a wolf" and not "legally shooting a wolf" then one would be posting in the wrong place. Gotta be tough being a big time celebrity with so many haters out there. Michael, if you ever happen upon this I'm in your corner brother! May God bless you with a long life and a long list of mature bucks, wolfs, and any other critter you pursue. JimT
Who cares if he is divorced. The whole holy roller thing cracks me up. I've seen this for several years and see it done over and over! Such is life! Just recognize the fact, nobody is perfect! Some people sure think they are! Adjam5
There was one man who walked this earth who was without sin, and I can tell you with all my heart. It ain't any of us on this board. So gimme a break with the holier than thou comments. No one is perfect. Very rare do celebs become HUGE without any bumps in the road. Michael is hitting his. I wish Michael Waddel the best the world has to offer. He is one of my favorite outdoor personalities who has done a whole lot more than many to promote hunting and the outdoors. The possibly shooting the wolf with a collar on, was already explained that it would be legal. So whats the problem? If you do not know Waddys humor, then change the channel. I enjoy him. Tonite on Bone Collector they went off shooting does in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I love it! Rock on Mike.
Dawg
I don't watch his shows......matter o'fact I don't watch any hunting shows now. They're all over commercialized and staged. Nothing more than another reality show. I don't condone nor do I condemn Michael for what he has done. Not my place to.
wtnhunt
His divorce was for having an affair with another married woman, and from what I know, she wasn't someone he met on the road, but had probably known for some time, and who was also married Really none of my business, but I did hear some rumors about what happened and also heard more rumors around the same time about another popular hunting show "pro" which evidently have not held to be true. I keep in mind that those are rumors and nothing more and certainly not my place to hold that against anyone. Funny how I keep telling my teenage daughter not to believe the rumors she hears in school. Rumors turn to maliscious gossip way too quick and people are too quick to fall in the trap of spreading what they don't know to be true. Sad really. Mystery Hunter
The way I see it is that "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God" Yes, Michael may have made a big mistake and he is paying for it! But as a Christain, I am to forgive. I am not to kick him when he is down but to lift him up in prayer unto God. I think a lot of people look at Celebrities as Gods and not humans. We are all held to the same degree by God. We have all failed God, Ourselves and our Families at one time or another. We are not Perfect and we should not hold anyone to a perfect standard. Some say he is a role model, but realy there is Only one role model you should follow and that is Christ Jessus! Man will fail you! Your biggest Hero will fail you at some point in your life. But will you forgive or hold it against him or her from now on?? I hope not the later!! "Let him that hath no sin, cast the first stone" There is not a one of us that can pick up a stone and cast it at anyone without several coming back at us! Yes, There are those that call theirselves Christains, but do not live the life of one! There are also good Christains that fail or make mistakes. There are also people who are not Christains that will live moraly because of the way they were brought up! We are ALL Humans and Humans make mistakes! It is what we do after that mistake that defines us!! Do we turn away from God or do we press on! We should only lift him up in our prayers and not kick him when he has fallen!! Before you put him down please take a look at yourself. Would you want to be forgiven?? I hope so! Without forgiving others, God will not forgive you!! It is that which you must ask yourself!! As for Bigger Sinners, There are not any!! Either you have sinned or you have not and we all have sinned! God does not place another Human above another and exspect him to live by a higher standard than you or me!! Nor should we!!
