HUNTINGMAN
I just heard on the news that there were alot of wild animals running loose in Ohio. They escaped from a wildlife preserve, said lions, tigers, bears, wolves and all kinds of other critters are running wild. If anyone has any lions or tigers they need taken out,I'm sure there are some hunters who would be glad to do it for them.
aujack
I heard about this today too. I would love to be sitting in a stand in Ohio and have a Tiger walk by. I would think it would be legal to shoot them because they would qualify as non-native species???
wtnhunt
I would think it would be legal to shoot them because they would qualify as non-native species??? Dunno about elsewhere but I do know here that the regs in regards to "seasons" and what is legal were re written a few years back around the time of our elk re-introduction. Used to be that anything not classified by the state with a designated season was technically open and could be legally taken, they changed it to where it is illegal to kill any animal that does not have a set season. Tominator
Yep...and they are about 70 miles from me. How far can a tiger roam? Orders are "shoot to kill" with the local law enforcement. The Licking county SWAT team is on it, along with a few other law enforcement agencies. Some of my students also mentioned they are trying to tranquilize the animals whenever possible. I think I could pull the trigger on a grizzly or black bear, but I don't know about shooting a giraffe. I don't know all the details, but if I was to speculate, I'd say some environmental whacko murdered the owner and set his animals free. The owner was found dead and all of his cages were "left open." I don't think private citizens should be able to harbor exotics like that anyway. JMHO.
ruttinbuc
I don't think private citizens should be able to harbor exotics like that anyway. JMHO. I agree 100%. We have had our share of dangerous game on the loose from these private pens. You will most assuredly here the crying from the ARA's. The authorities had no choice but to do the right thing. As of now there is a grizzly, a mountain lion, and a monkey still on the loose.
redkneck
If your LEOs are like ours, this is quite possibly the best and most exciting thing they have ever encountered. Every constable in the state would be on high alert, working without pay if need be, lol
Shaun_300
Wow, that's crazy, hope they get all the critters captured or killed, whatever safely comes first.
stevebeilgard
seems they were let go intentionally by the owner, just prior to him committing suicide. it closed down 4 school districts. not 4 schools, 4 districts. lots of dead animals, some endangered species, died because they were set free. sad day for the animals, for sure. Tominator
Agree Steve. Never should have happened. Heard on the news, kinda funny, kinda not, but the last unaccounted for animal was a snow monkey, and apparently, one of the big cats had a monkey lunch before it was killed. ruttinbuc
They say it was the worst animal escape episode in the country ever. Really sad to see the pictures of the aftermath. Especially, those big cats.
wtnhunt
Gotta agree with Mike, sad to see those animals destroyed, but was no other option. Thank God no one was hurt.
dbHunterNY
It is sad to see that so many animals were killed. they did have darts and did use them. even said they'd try to seal off the area and dart all of them if it happened mid-day and not so close to night fall. we're hunters here and understand how elusive animals can be. i think they did an incredible job at handling the situation. not a single animal got away and is uncalled for. i can't believe nobody was killed either in all this. doubledrop
only about 30 miles from me. what a mess this was. it was really to bad the animals had to pay for what this ******* did,but the authorities did what they had to do. Shaun_300
Too bad they had to kill most of them, but for safety's sake they did the right thing. So lucky no one got killed by one of these critters.
