fladawg
Not sure my way is proper but this is what i do.I try an find a spot where i have just three side's to look out of.The door side just sunk in brush, but with room enuff to get in.As far as window's just open them enuff to get whatever weapon your use'n up there to make a clean shot. Also on outside after setup Brush it up,cut sum surroundin brush and blend it in.Inside take Debre (leaves, pineneedles, etc) and put them along bottom to seal it,use stuff inside, that way your feet ant crunchin on them. Some have zipper's sum have velcro sum both, they make noise so i leave my window's and door open enuff to get in.Sit in the dark corner in the back so you'll have enuff room to get weapon up.And your on the ground so dont 4get about your number 1 enemy, the WIND. dbHunterNY
yup i pretty much do the same thing. i try to set it up on flat ground, keeping in mind wind direction and where deer will be coming from. clear debris to the sides along the bottom to block light from coming in and so you're not stepping on them. open just windows facing foward, so you're not silhouetted from the side by a deer. i climb in through window if at all possible; zipper doors are noisy. if you're hunting with bait out front at gun distance like some states legally can try to have the door in the back side corner not inline with the view into the blind from the opened windows. if possible have the path to the blind hidden or concealed. deer could be out there at any time, so this way you can sneak into the blind undetected with deer at the bait. i did this hunting out in OK. with all big game try to have brush/vegetation around and on top of the blind to look as natural as possible. with turkeys you don't have to most of the time. if you shoot a bow have the blind angling toward the deer so you've got more room (depth) to draw. if you shoot fixed blade broadheads you can have just the mesh windows closed in the front and shoot through them. practice this and the idea is your concealed from the deers sight is even more. spring steel blinds are a pain and i try to stay with hub style blinds. hope that helps. good luck with yours! wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. Some real good advice above. Primarily setup our ground blind on fence rows here, I have to get ours out this weekend. I only open the front and usually one side window and leave the side window angled. Where I set ours up at the sunrise is at our backs and sunset is for the most part blocked by hardwoods, helps keep it dark inside.

Flintlock1776
I have to hunt the deep woods so I try and find some trails and set back off them 10-20 yards. You do not have to be too far off the trail I have found. I even out up the blind on the same morning of the hunt and took a nice buck with my bow shooting thru the mesh on my Double Bull blind. All black clothes; cap; face mask; pull over and then, black (not shiny leather) gloves. Works for me. Good luck and post some pics of your successful hunt!
