Is this legal or not? Help!

I am in the process of selling my bow and actually came up with a very good idea for selling it, I just don't know if it is legal or not.

Here is my idea: I first check to see how many people are interested, and if I can get enough people interested, I would make a deadline, and have anyone that wants to participate write me a letter and include $10 in their letter explaining why they would be the best choice to receive my bow. Then at the deadline I pick the best letter and ship my bow to the winner, that way I have money to put towards a new bow, and the winner gets a new bow that they essentially paid $10 for.

This may very well be illegal, which is why I am asking this. Please let me know if this is legal or not! Thanks!!

I wondered the same thing Chris. The idea sounds neat but it would take 20 - People just to make $200!

I had a bow once (McPherson Mark 9, great old bows) I wanted to sale. I posted it everywhere. Had no luck so I put it on Ebay. I started it low with a half dozen arrows... never saw a single bid. A week later I re-listed it, raised the price slighly and took out the arrows, raised the shipping.. I had bids almost immediatly and got decent money for the bow.

I woudl go to ebay... ;)

good idea but it would still take alot of people to get even half the money it's worth. Also in my book it would be like stealing from whoever didn't win because you'd be taking their money and not giving them anything for it.

naa. everyone who buys a ticket knows it's gambling. all they want is a chance for their money. i buy tickets all the time, for most anything. i never count on winning, only donating. yet, a few years ago, i won a 22-250 which was quite a surprise.
