philray
I went hunting this past weekend and seen a lot of deer moving around the hours of 12:00 to 2:00pm. If you get on your stand shortly before day break, How long do you stay on your stand? Also, what time of day do you usually see the most deer? Tominator
Depends on the time of year I guess. Most sits for me are at least 2 hours if I can swing it, but usually 3 or 4 hours. If I'm seeing deer and I have the time, I don't mind sitting all day.
Tetro
During our first week, we're hunting as a gang. So our morning run last 3-4 hours. Then we shut down to re coup and have lunch then have a quick 1-2 run. The call it a day and get in our night stands about 1-2 hours before dark, depending on how the day has gone. Usually in our runs we have 2-3 guys dogging the bush and about 7-8 in stands during that time.
Ambuscher
This time of year all day long.
MUDRUNNER
I have a hard time staying in one place for too long. 5 hours per sit is about my limit. The first three hours of the morning usually cruise right by, but I really start to struggle after that. Evening sits sre usually around 3 hours. gobblerroller
I usually get up at 5 AM and get in the stand at about 6:45 and sit until 10:30-45. It really all depends on what kind of day it is. In the evening if it's getting dark at 7 I'll usually get in the stand at around 4:30 and not get down until it's completely dark. WHISKEYSWAMP
most sits are usually 3-4 hours, but the next couple weekends I'll be in the woods as much as I can. Tommorrow, I'll sit a morning stand until about noon and then move to an afternoon stand where deer typically move more during the day. I don't plan on leaving the woods. Sunday, I have commitments but will be out all morning and hope to be back in the woods by 5.
aldridgem1
Depends of the time of year for me. This time of year when the bucks are starting to cruise, if i can i like to sit till atleast 12:00 and grab lunch and head right back in. Ive actually killed two of bigger deer around 12:00. Goodluck!
wtnhunt
Depends really on a few factors. I am not going to sit for 5 hours if it is in the 80's and not seeing anything. Have done some mid day hunts and not had a great deal of luck with them. Usually will stay out for 4 hours in the mornings, closer to rut I might sit longer and try to get back out in the afternoon earlier. Posted a couple polls last year that kind of go along with this, will see if I can find them and post links for you.
dbHunterNY
Some spots aren't good for both morning and evenings. If I'm moving to a different spot for the afternoon, I'll stay in the stand until 11AM and then get back in the other at 1-2pm. If it's during the rut and I'm hunting the same stand I'll stay there all day. I'll bring jerky or something easy and quiet to me over. brendonp
I get to the stand at least 45 min before legal hours. I like to be set ready and relaxed, listening to the surroundings and just be at peace with nature. If i can swing it i sit all day. Granolla bars, and sandwiches, a camelbak for hydration. I not all day at LEAST 4 hours, at least.
Texan_Til_I_Die
Mostly depends on the weather and deer movement. Early season in Texas can see some really warm temps during mid day and typically the deer movement shuts down. If it's cool to cold, especially just before and during the rut, I'll hunt all day, but almost never from a single stand. Or I'll stay until the beer runs out! rhine16
Right now, it isn't likely for me to sit past ten. During the prime days of the rut I'll sit until anywhere from 12-2, get lunch and back on stand by 3.

philray
Thanks! I don't normally set until after 12:00, just have a hard time setting that long. Just wonder how many deer I miss seeing due to not setting on the stand long enough. Cudos to those who can set on the stand all day. I sure wish I could.
