Tominator
Only 1 deer tonight, but he was a nice one. Split G-2, nice big crab claw on the right, perfect mainframe 8 on the left. Probably would score around 130ish. Closest he got was 35 yards, but had some twigs in the way, and he passed on the right. Got a serious case of the shakes after he left, lol.
WHISKEYSWAMP
cool experience eh... got skunked last night other than a coyote and a flock of turkeys. This weekend should get exciting with another cool front coming tomorrow.
wtnhunt
Things are getting right here. Slipped out yesterday afternoon with the bow, wind was perfect and had a yearling doe and fawn under me from just before sunset til after dark, shot them with the camera for a few minutes. They both ended up bedding down less than 35 yards from me. Just my luck the way it continues to go I had a buck guarding a doe on the other end of the field right after the sun set. Doe was trying to come my way, he kept her pushed in a corner of the field. Too far in the low light to tell what the buck was. Little bucks were trying to chase here last week, got pics of a 2.5 year old with one side missing, I had watched that same buck a few weeks ago pushing around the 1.5 yo's. Rhino
Got your heart pumping eh? Good!!! It's still a while before we see some serious cruising or chasing here. Won't be long before I'm in a tree in KS though. BTW...Barry killed Hurley yesterday morning. The same big NT he missed last year.
Tominator
Got your heart pumping eh? Good!!! Yeah it did. When I first saw him, I thought it was the same deer I saw Saturday, and I didn't grab my bow right away, instead I grabbed my binoculars, which might have been a mistake. He came in from the same direction, but was behind a big dead tree. I could see his left side, but it's his right side that's really cool. He turned, headed for the creek, turned 180 and then skirted me to my right. Typical cruiser, hard to stop. I grunted, snort wheezed, and finally tried to rattle. He stopped each time, stepped towards me once when I snort wheezed, but had something else on his mind I guess. This year is 100 times better than last year already though. BTW...Barry killed Hurley yesterday morning. The same big NT he missed last year. That's cool. He probably doesn't publish pics though, does he? ruttinbuc
I had a close encounter of the big 8 kind, too. He was shadowing a doe near last light. The doe finally made a move and brought the buck within 30 yards. There was just enough grey light where I couldn't see the few branches I knew were there. Better safe than sorry.. Will be out in a few to try again. Keep after it, Chris. dbHunterNY
sounds like the season is looking promising... Good luck Chris! I hope you get him, just remember to keep shaking after the fact and not during.
Rhino
That's cool. He probably doesn't publish pics though, does he? I'm sure he will on their Brothers of the Bow website Chris.
