Jeramie
At about 2:20 this morning our house started shaking like crazy. We were both asleep and it woke us up. The windows went crazy. You could hear the ceiling fans rattling, etc. I was in a fog so I was afraid someone was trying to break in the back french doors. I got up to get the shotgun and realized the hole house was shaking. It lasted much longer than I expected. I immediatly got on the net checking the Oklahoma Websites. It wasnt long before facebook had it all over. We have quakes in Oklahoma pretty regular but this was close enough that it wasnt a little vibration, it actually moved the house. It registered a 4.5. Nothing huge but bad enough for an Okie! I put the update at the bottom, had a 5.6 last night! Spooky...
Shaun_300
Cool! We had one last year I think it was the same size, last year. They were repaving the parking lot at work just outside the shop, so I never noticed it with all the racket they were making. They said the rafters and windows were rattling in the dealership though. The center of the quake was just across the river in Quebec, where it actually knocked a bridge and an old church over!

Jeramie
We had an even bigger 5.6 last night! Another big Oklahoma quake in less than 24 hours. We we woken from bed again last night with a 5.6 rolling through Oklahoma followed by several aftershocks. We do have quakes in Oklahoma but not nearly at this level and size... Two record breakers in less than 24 hours, wow. Makes me think twice about the movie 2012! Channel 9 Oklahoma City was fliming the news when it happened. stevebeilgard
i've been in lots of quakes, but none that i enjoyed. it's pretty scary each time. in wyoming we don't get many quakes. but if the yellowstone one goes again, complete with a volcanic blast, there won't even be a wyoming. if i were paranoid, i'd simply say goodby now. so, if you feel the wyoming blast in new york, goodby. lol
ckrich
I slept through the first one early Saturday morning, but I definitely felt the biggest one last night. A group of friends and I had just finished watching the OSU v. KState game, and it seemed to last around a minute. We ran outside to see if the neighbors had felt it, and the whole apartment complex joined us. Then around 3:30 this morning something woke me up, I thought maybe I was just dreaming, but then I noticed a couple tremors. Good ol aftershock. The_Kat
What freaked me out was that we heard it coming. Jenn and I were laying in bed watching the news with the window opened and it sounded like thunder rumbling. I was like, I thought the rain was supposed to move in tomorrow.....then all **** broke loose. I felt my floor moving like I was on a boat. We have 9 cracks in our dry wall, and my new asphalt drive has a nice crack through it. Our dishes were clanking, pictures fell off the walls...It sure was an uneasy feeling. Cash slept right through it.
OJR
When we lived in CA, we went through many of them. The worst one was in '89 and it was 7.0! I never want to go through something like that again!

Jeramie
Yep, had another last night, 4.7. On top of that we also had tornados last night. What the heck is going on in Oklahoma??? 4.7 Magnitude Earthquake Rattles Oklahoma Monday Evening - NewsOn6.com - Tulsa, OK - News, Weather, Video and Sports - KOTV.com | We had the girls in bed with us because of the storm. We were about to watch the 9:00PM news and the earthquake hit. It knocked glasses out of the cabinets, stuff off of shelves, etc.
The_Kat
I actually didn't feel this one, but thats cause I am up in Alva during the week. Jenn felt it at home, but said it was nothing compared to the one Saturday. I have two theories.......either the asteroid passing nearby has something to do with the earthquake activity......or the fracking.
Gator
I felt both of those, and an after shock Sunday morning, but somehow missed the earthquake last night. Think the only thing we haven't had this year is a volcano, but the year ain't over yet

wtnhunt
No serious damage for anyone, I hope. Have felt only a few here over the years, nothing quite big enough to really make me nervous or concerned.
philray
Had someone send me this Tuesday and thought it was very fitting. Today's weather report has a number of safety precautions you should take note of: Tornados are coming-seek shelter in the interior of your house. Earthquakes are coming-avoid the interior of your home. Go outside if possible. There's lightning outside - avoid high ground There's flash flood warning- avoid low ground Parts of the state have received over 5" of rain in three hours. However- we have a burn ban. Welcome to Tuesday in Oklahoma! Edited November 10, 2011 by philray
