ruttinbuc
Here is a video of a view from my tree the other night.I had these bucks show up and all looked like 8 pointers at first glance. A closer look revealed they had little or no brow tines. Anyway, I couldn't get a shot at one of them that came close near dark. I had to stay in the tree for a half hour after I thought they left. A persistent nanny was bound and determined to see what made that noise when I let down my bow. Deer scattered at the sound, but the buck and the doe he was with never left. ruttinbuc
Thanks Jeremy and William. I have been close to some nice bucks this year, for sure. Just a matter of being able to get the right shot. I probably could of forced it in a couple of situations, but no, I'd rather be sure than to go on a wild goose chase for a wounded deer. I hunted the same tree tonight and saw a small 8 checking in the hedgerow for doe. I had the same nanny show up with her fawns and did almost the same thing as the other night. She knew something was there, but she couldn't pin me down, lol. I thought of taking her out to stop all the silliness. I might need her for bait so she was allowed to live. Again, thanks for watching!
Rhino
Cool Mike...nice job on the video. I see a few with no brows from time to time but never 2 in one afternoon. I thought you were about to get a crack at that 2nd one. Hang in there and keep them coming. BTW...I would have passed the doe too for the same reason. There's always post rut for smacking her! ruttinbuc
I went back in that stand last night, Al. The same doe and her fawns showed up at dark and she did the same thing. She came into the thicket below me and gave it the twice over before leaving to feed in the field. Little did she know my patience saved her again. The bucks were way down in the field shadowing doe. I had a real good come out of the row and cross the field. He ended up going through a cattle chute that runs under the highway. I should of been hunting out of the truck. It was parked right at the exit of the chute on the other side...It was too dark to get an image.
