Searce0404
Ok , this is my first post not very good at this the whole internet computer thing so bare with me. I hunt about 100 acres of family land in alabama. Got a good pic of a very good 8 point on my game cam. Problem is, its the only shooter buck that has been caught on camera. Got several does and younger bucks ,but not shooter bucks. . . . . . So my question is , should I try to take the good eight or would pay off to let him spread his genetics this year and hopefully have some trophy bucks to hunt in a few years? And when I say younger bucks I mean a few spikes and several knot heads. Nothin that wouldn't take a couple to three years to mature. Thanks for any advice. Also I would post the deer pic but ain't figured out how yet.
Ambuscher
1. How old is the eight pt? 2. If he's a 3.5 or older, he's probably already got some of his genes out there. 3. If it was me and he was older than the 3.5 mark I'd take him. 4. JMHO
Searce0404
I would say he is 3.5 but id like to figure out how to get his pic on here so I could get a second opinion.I'm posting from my phone , prolly can't post the pic

wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. Don't know a thing about attaching pics from mobile devices. Usually upload pics to photobucket here and then copy them to my post. There is a direct upload tab above for inserting images, don't know if it works with the mobile apps though. Tominator
Sounds like you just have to let the age structure of your area mature a little. Those little bucks now might be trophies in a few years if they get past the 3.5 yr old stage like Ambuscher suggests.
Rhino
First off...Welcome aboard! I'd say it's your call. Usually a trail cam pic doesn't do a good buck justice. If you have the opportunity you'll need to decide if he's what YOU want. I run a lot of trail cams and I still see and have killed bucks that never steped in front of a cam. That's just the way it is. Since you're in Alabama, it's still probably pre-rut. If I were you I'd set my cams on different scrapes. Multiple bucks will visit the same scrape and you just might discover you have more than that 8 point hanging around.
