archerjg
The reason I bought my 1-Ton. 30 foot of trailer with 200 bales of Timothy hay. It was getting close to the max towing weight and the truck didn't even know it was there. The truck has more power than it knows what to do with. Even with a heavy load you could barely punch it at highway speed and it would speed on up like it was empty. Definitely happy with the truck. The exhaust brake is awesome and a lifesaver on long grades and trying to slow down quickly due to someone cutting you off. Archerjg
Shaun_300
Glad you like your D-max archerjg! They are an awesome truck for pulling. I still can't believe the power they have compared to the older duramax engines. You'd almost think there's a Banks under the hood. I know when you put the hammer down at 60mph the back end can get swirly sometimes. :shifty:
archerjg
Mine is still breaking in it only has 3,400 miles on it as of today. It feels stronger as the miles roll on and if I turn the electro-nannies off yeah the back end likes to get a little squirrely. Pretty amazing for an 8,000 lb truck. Why was there not a dipstick put in the exhaust fluid tank? It would make it easier to know when to refill it. Archerjg
Shaun_300
I've often wondered that myself, or they could have a little gauge on the dash like a fuel level gauge.
wtnhunt
Nice. Truck/trailer both. That is a good load of hay to put up by hand, least it is not the middle of the summer, reminds me why I went to round bails. lol.
archerjg
We do both. Somewhere between 3,000 and 4,000 square bales for the horse people and around 1,000 round bales for our cattle. We do lots and lots of hay.
