deer slayer
Well I went hunting sunday afternoon and was covered in deer at about 3:30 until dark. I had a big group of does not more than 30 yards in front of me but they got spooked before I could get a shot. Then yesterday I walked down to my stand to grab all my sent bombs that I forgot to take back to the house. I didn't think there would be any thing down there so I was dome and walked down with out my bow, BIG MISTAKE! When I got down there, right under my sent bombs was the same group of does and a nice buck, not more than 20 yards from my stand! I stood and watched them for a bit till they walked away. I felt sick to my stomach after that:wacko:. I learned a lesson NEVER WALK DOWN IN THE WOODS WITH OUT MY BOW!! Rhino
I learned that lesson the hard way too a long time ago. Whatever the season, I always carry my weapon with me unless I'm carrying a hang on stand, etc. to set.
dbHunterNY
yup that's how it usually works out. always try to bring my weapon.
huntinsonovagun
I always carry a weapon for that very reason...oddly enough, never had a shot opportunity yet. I'd say it'll probably only happen once in a lifetime.
brendonp
There is only one time when i go into the woods without my bow during season, after i have tagged out. After i tag out i still take a rifle in case a varmint shows up. It only took me one time of missing out on a coyote to follow that rule all season. My dad instilled in me that any opportuinity to fill your tag should not be wasted. Even if i am just trimming branches or moving a stand if it is season, the bow is out and an arrow is laid out of the quiver on the back seat, the release is strapped on.
