huntinsonovagun
Good looking bucks. What part of OK you hunting? I keep thinking I need to make the 2 1/2 hour drive across the border one of these years.
abrown
Northern Oklahoma, on the Arkansas river, as it comes out of Kansas. I have private land, but I've had my best luck on public land. I wouldn't have thought the two biggest deer I've shot would have came off of public. huntinsonovagun
I've hunted around Kaw before, never for deer, but thought the land looked like prime big buck habitat! I killed this deer this year along the Arkansas River.
abrown
That's a stud! I saw it earlier, didn't know where you shot it at, you just said Corps land. I kind of have somewhat of an idea how the deer move. Our public hunting up here is open for only the first 9 days of rifle season, and closed the last 7 days to rifle hunting. Obviously the hunters on private land push big deer onto public, then usually they'll stay there for the remainder of the season.
abrown
Here's a better pic of the second buck, his net green score was 129 3/8. He only had a 14 in spread, so you can figure what the mass was on him. The smallest circ measurement was still over 3 in!
huntinsonovagun
Love to see the mass and character those 5+ year old bucks get. If only I could let those 3 1/2 year olds walk.......
