Shotgun buck down

This buck came right to me this morning at 7:15. He was tough to see in the fog and the tight trees. I picked him up in the scope as he turned to go up the hill. I found his chest, squeezed the trigger and he turned and bolted by me. I followed with a second shot that I didn't need. He was dead on his feet. He went another 40 yards and piled up.

I didn't realize he was busted up, but that's OK. I'll take him. Took him to the check station and he was aged at 4 1/2. Weighed 155#. He felt like 500 on the drag out. Fortunately, it wasn't all that far to the access road.

Thanks again guys.

Looks like that shotgun sure did the job!

It sure did, John! It is a Savage 220. It is tack driver out to 150yards. Totally blows my mind compared to other slug guns I owned.

Nice! What county?

Flintlock, I shot the buck in Harmony Township, Warren County. From all accounts I am most fortunate as it has not been a good week for a lot of hunters. With the warm humid air and now the rain with a big moon makes it real tough. The drive clubs have not been doing that well either. It is supposed to snow tonight so hopefully things will change for the better.
