What do you do during the off season?

Used to build some slate calls. Haven't made any for a few years, though. Used to work some big shows and the NWTF National Convention for a call company. Don't do that anymore. Last night I scheduled the 1st week of spring season as vacation from work.

Other than that....................I try not to think about it. Seems to make it get here quicker.

There's not much of an off season for me when fall comes around. Deer season runs through the end of January so I'm usually busy hunting, moving stands, etc. unless I limit out. Also our peak rutting period in my neck of the woods in MS is toward the end of December so it's just starting to heat up. Once deer season closes, I'm loosening, moving, or pulling deer stands in Feb and doing some post season scouting. I also start running my trail cams and set them for finding turkeys. I'll also start listening for gobbling birds on the roost toward the end of February and continue doing that and scouting for them till our spring season opens in mid March. With only about a 6 week break between the end of deer season & the opening of spring turkey season there's plenty to keep me busy before opening day here.

Yep...short break...3 gobbler bag limit...liberal spring season (3/15-5/1). Gotta admit Don...I'm spoiled! Well until the hot, humid summer heat sets in down here around the beginning of June and last through September.
