Ravin R10 man
That bear was curious, not a huge threat...I've had a young sow charge me 3 x's within two feet snapping whoofing and popping her teeth..now that'l get your attention...lol
redkneck
Yeah, it didnt look threatening, but would be unnerving whe it started up the ladder. For those of us that have never seen one and don't really know their habits, I think it would be a little more tense.
Ravin R10 man
He may have been just the camera man..not the hunter..chances are a gun or bow was at the ready
Shaun_300
Yeah that would have got the blood pumping! My uncle is a bear outfitter, one of his hunters had a bear climb up the stand like that out of curiosity, he got to the top and got a tap on the nose with an arrow, he said that bear was down off that stand and gone in a shot. Just seeing a bear puts up the hair on my neck. Comes down to how much experience you have with bears. As long as I have a weapon I'm better with it. Rhino
No experience with bears here so I would have thrown the shorts & pants away after that encounter.
dbHunterNY
i'm with Martin... pretty calm situation. To surprise one on the ground is a lot different. One of the Jim Shockey shows has footage of a 10+ ft square brown bear standing up just on the other side of a log. That's a whole different story. Definitely not saying I'd reach down and pet it or anything though! lol
stevebeilgard
that will get your attention, for sure. i'll bet there was a gun real close by.
Ravin R10 man
that will get your attention, for sure. i'll bet there was a gun real close by. not in my case.. all I had was a good solid stick that I saw laying there..I just stood my ground waved the stick and yelled at the bear...then looked around above me to see where the cubs were, spotted them and backed away from that spot...mumma just stood and watched me until she figured i was not a threat anymore..she said something and cubs came down and off they went
fly
Being from IL seeing a bear in the wild was a first for me on my DIY Idaho bear hunt in the spring of 2010. He walked to within 30 yards of my blind and was looking in at me. I was reading as it was early and I did not expect a bear for another 2 hours. My heart was pumping as if a 180 inch whitetail was below me. Apparently the bear in the video wasn't a shooter. No way could I have waited as long as the camera man did to alert the bear to my presence. I would have been telling him to get as soon as he was at the bottom of the ladder.
