Turkeygirl
Well I got a flyer in the mail from the archery shop - they have 3D/Video archery leagues starting next week so I called and got my name on the list. It's like $10 a score but I thought it'd be something fun to do the next couple months:yes: Nothing fancy, just going to use my Elite Hunter as is. So I'm trying to decide whether to shoot the 3D target or do the video...video I think is 20 yard....3D range is 40 yard. Haven't done a league before, which course do you guys think I should do?:cool2:
dbHunterNY
Good deal Ruth! If you haven't done video before then I'd recommend it. It's very fun and addictive! If you're in a league you can have more of a say about what you're shooting (i.e. big game, turkey, small game, fish, birds, predators, etc.). It's only set known distance 20 yards and on few occasions hits don't register right, but it's awesome practice. There are some leagues starting at close by clubs here Jan 7 & 8. an indoor 3D 30 yard max league and a couple indoor vegas leagues. some others an hour or so away have already started. i might do both a 3D and a vegas league. Ravin R10 man
I'd do the 3-d.. I tried the video and they dont have the kill zones right in my opinion, you dont see the scoring ring until after you shoot...I'd take the heart right out and according to the screen the rings were not correct, and my score would be low.. So i would shoot it like a 3-d and to heck with the score, I didnt think it duplicated field conditions at all
MUDRUNNER
I shot in a combo league for a few years. We did video one week and 3D pop ups the next, which was nice. If i had to pick i would do the 3D. Like these guys have said, all the arrows don't register, and i don't always agree with the kill zones. If you shoot last and pay attention to the kill zones on the other shooters you can get a good score. I was always better at the 3D. Out of around 100 shooters in our league I was usually around 40th on the video and 25th or better in the 3D pop ups.

Turkeygirl
This week shot 135 and 134...so down a little but not horrible. Did order some new arrows...I was shooting Easton Flatline 400s with 100 grain tip. A guy at the shop gave me a couple 65 grain tips I think they were to try....I think my arrows flew a bit better compared to with the 100 grain tips. Talked about it and we decided the Flatline 500s would be a better arrow for my bow. So got a 1/2 dozen ordered for 3D.
dbHunterNY
yea i have my arrows spined just right and like anywhere bewteen 9-10% FOC balance. i use 100gr tips for hunting and will now use 75gr tips for 3D. i shoot Easton Lightspeeds right now which are pretty much your Flatlines with a nock collar (and they're 340's). I've found with changes in my setup that too weak a spine hurts my groups the closer the range, but then too stiff makes the setup less forgiving to shoot. i suppose you just need to find that sweet spot in the middle.
