Gator
Here's the skinny: Went to Alabama Christmas day, got about 17.5MPG. Came back this past Mon, and got from 14.3 to 16. Same road, same everything. Truck is a 2010 Silverado 4x4 with the 5.3, 6sp tranny, and 3.08 gears. Some of the gas was ethanol based, same as on the trip out. Last tank was real gas. Don't think there was much of a difference. Any ideas?

PotashRLS
I am convinced that the gasoline market some way some how shafts us daily, be it price, availability, BS excuses, blends, and fuel economy. Throw the government and the EPA in there and we get the big bodinii.
Gator
Drive faster on the way home? Nope, actually a little slower. Did notice that my GPS MPH and my speedo MPH was somewhat off, and on the trip out was the same.

Any ideas? Have noticed with our durango that the mpg's according to the computer may vary as much as 3 mpg with daily driving driving the same route the same way with very little variance. I believe the gas we are using and what is being distributed to the stations might have something to do with it.
Ravin R10 man
the only other thing I can think of, were you driving into a head-wind on the way home? I'm onboard with the fuel being blended, that causes poor mileage...was getting 17.2 all summer/fall....then comes Dec. and 17...I drive easy and it will not come back up for nothing..and otheer than the last fews days being near zero... we have had warm temps too
johnf
Could be the temp. too. Cooler air will give you a little boost. My guess is that you got some bad gas on the way home.
elkoholic
I would bet on having a tail wind on the way there and a head wind on the way back. Ethanol quantity could also have had an affect, but I think the wind was the cause.

Gator
I was headed west on Mon, and Arkansas had NNW winds at 20-30, so not really a head wind, but maybe bad enough. Thing is once I hit Oklahoma, no wind, and the mileae still sucked. I'm gonna fill up this weekend and see what happens
johnf
Get a can of Seafoam fuel additive and put it in the tank. It will clear out anything bad in your system.
