muggs
Spring time. In my opinion, spring is the best time to fish for most species. There are a lot of reservoirs in my area of Ohio. In the spring, the water is cool, and water levels are up. I just fish around the shorelines, in brush and down tree type of cover. Float a hair jig tipped with a minnow and do well. You usually get the big females this time of year too.
johnf
About a week ago. They start biting here in mid winter for us and generally slow down in early to mid May.
gzilla45
Here in WI my favorite time to catch them are early ice(end of December) and late ice(March). Nothing like pulling slab crappies through the ice.
Dawg
Spring is best to catch them shallow, up on the grass here. After they spawn (late spring/early summer) they move back out over deep structure and bite pretty much all the time, some days better than others.
