johnf
Worth it to whom? I paid $325 for a used Guardian because I think it's insane to spend $500 on a new bow. I also don't buy new cars. I buy them 2-3 years old. Some people want the latest and greatest. Wait 3 years and buy one for $500.
Rhino
I'm looking at getting a new Bowtech this year. It may be my last for a long time. I'll check the newest one out you're talking about along with the Invasion. I'm not getting a new bow because I want the latest/greatest. I'm just getting older and weaker (58 next week) so I want to drop my draw weight down into the mid to upper 50"s so I can draw my bow again from a sitting position. I lost the ability to draw from a sitting position this year. I can't hold my bow at full draw and hold on target for anything close to the length of time I used to either. So with regaining those advantages it would be worth it to me. With either bow I should still, at least be able maintain the same speed I have now with my 70# pull Guardian. That's the main advantages these new fast bows have for old farts like me. Getting old is overrated! dbHunterNY
yup i know a lot who upgrade to maintain same speeds and energy, but at a lesser poundage. heck Mark Drury shoots under 60 pounds and look at the bruisers he kills. my Evo i got last year set at close to 60lbs has the same trajectory with the same arrow as my 2007 back up bow at 70lbs. heck on my Evo the sight alone is worth $250. i like it and it helps having good equipment. so if i can afford it why not. i'm curious about the draw cycle on the insane cpx. all that speed comes from somewhere; can't create energy. probably not too bad though. WHISKEYSWAMP
I still have my Mathews Outback from 2004. I'd like to upgrade to the latest and greatest but still killing deer with it so I don't feel the need to spend the money.
Mystery Hunter
I have never owned a New Bow. I bought a used Fred Bear Truth three years ago and still use it but getting a free new Hoyt this year that I won in our Big Buck Archery contest! I posted that in another thread so will not bore you all with the details! I myself are like some here that has a hard time putting out 1,200 for a new top of the line bow (and my wife has a realy hard time with it) when you can get one for under 500.00 and still kill all you want to. I would not have gotten another probably for another couple of years, but if you get it for free I guess you just have to suffer with it!!
fly
No bow is worth a grand in my opinion, but I'll likely be shelling out that much in the next year when I retire my 2003 Bear TRX. When I do I'll compare and try out the leading contenders and buy the one that feels the best. Bow hunting is high on my priority list (after God and my kids). I'm Taking the kids to Disney in March, which will relieve the guilt associated with a 1000.00 bow. LOL
