Guest ketchum
I SAW SEVERAL GOBBLERS TODAY. IT'S RAINING SO THEY TOOK TO THE FIELDS. I DECIDED TO RIDE AROUND AND SEE IF I COULD GET AN ANSWER. IF YOU CALL THEY WILL ANSWER!!!! I HAD SEVERAL TO STRUT AND GOBBLE AT THE CALL!! THE BIRDS ARE READY, IF SEASON WAS OPEN. I CANT WAT MUCH LONGER. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHICH STATE OPENS THE SOONEST? KYLimbHanger
Re: THE STRUT IS ON!!! Not sure on which state opens soonest, BUT, Kentucky does not tolerate calling birds before season. Only way we can get one to gobble is shocking by owl or crow etc. I don't know about your state, but I hope you were owl hooting them? Guest ketchum
Re: THE STRUT IS ON!!! HERE IN TENNESSE YOU CAN CALL ANYTIME ON PRIVATE LAND. ON MANAGEMENT AREAS YOU CAN'T CALL WITHIN 30 DAYS OF OPENING DAY.

Guest ketchum
Re: THE STRUT IS ON!!! I DON'T CALL TO THE ONES I'M GOING TO HUNT. I CALL FROM THE ROAD, ON PRIVATE LAND. AREAS WHERE NO HUNTING IS ALLOWED. THAT WAY I'M NOT EDUCATING ANYONE ELSE'S BIRDS EITHER.

redbeard
Re: THE STRUT IS ON!!! I believe that would be Florida, followed by Alabama, South Carolina, then Georgia. Saw about 25 the other weekend but none were struttin'
dogdoc
Re: THE STRUT IS ON!!! nothing like listening to gobbles. I am always tempted to call beore season but never do--just don't want to educate any big gobbles. good luck this season todd
Guest ketchum
Re: THE STRUT IS ON!!! Read the entire post! I'm not trying to kill the birds, only to get a response. I am educating the birds, but I am also learning what and how they respond. I don't have to be worried about spooking the birds. I call and try new things. Today I had two mature toms 15 feet away from my truck STRUTTIN AND GOBBLIN!!!! They never paid my truck any attention!!!! Once again I do this in areas where hunting is not allowed!! Guest trakker
Re: THE STRUT IS ON!!! Sounds like you needed a camera that would have been some good shots. I agree with calling early might wise them more than they are.

Guest 257Roberts
Re: THE STRUT IS ON!!! Accually, depending on where you hunt in florida, the south opens march 5th, and the rest opens march 19. I was curious so i thought i would look. Normally MS opens on the 3rd weekend in March but this year they set the date on the 15th.
