Winter Indoor Archery League Started Tonight

My Fish & Game Club just built a new building to provide indoor archery and pistol shooting at alternating times. The pistol work is not yet complete, but the archery was up and running tonight for the 1st night for the winter archery league. We ran a couple of nights in December to provide instructions to youth and novices and interest was good.

The weather was really bad tonight with the possibility of freezing rain, so the numbers were low, but that was good for those of us who had been giving archery instructions, because we could shoot all night without distractions. I'll sheepishly admit that I hadn't spent a great deal of time shooting and practicing this past fall like I should have, so tonight was more on practicing and getting in shape rather than trying to do any scoring.

It sure felt good to be flinging darts again out'ta the bow. I even brought along one of my longbows and launched a few logs out of it just to see what it felt like again. I wasn't able to hold a candle to a couple of the other guys who were shooting equipment with stabilizers, micro adjustable sights and releases, but I wasn't bested by anyone in my catagory as I shoot fingers. I didn't nail a lot of 10Xs, but I did O.K. for the 1st night. Ya, there was the odd shaft that ran amuck of the target, but overall, things felt purty good!

I'll miss next week's league night as I'll be in Panama for a week, but on return I'll be right back on the line slinging them there long feathered darts.
