Swamphunter
I want to reload some managed recoil rounds for my 30-06. I was poking around the internet and found this on Chuckwawks website... .30-06 Springfield - 165 grain Speer SP bullet, 25.0 grains of SR 4759 powder, CCI 200 primer, Win. case. COL 3.250". MV 1941 fps in 22" barrel. (Based on the Speer Reloading Manual No. 13.) I like the thought of using the SR 4759 powder as there is a load that I can use for my son's future .270 that uses the same components. .270 Winchester - 150 grain Speer SP bullet, 26.0 grains of SR 4759 powder, CCI 200 primer, Winchester case. COL 3.270". MV 1957 fps in 22" barrel. (Based on the Speer Reloading Manual No. 13.) Any thoughts or opinions? Thank you
Strut10
You might want to take a look at Accurate Arms XMP-5744. I use this in reduced loads for a .307 Win levergun I play with. I spoke directly with a ballistician at Accurate Arms. He said there is NO minimum charge other than what it takes to be certain the bullet makes it all the way out the barrel. In looking at some AA data, it shows a max charge of 36.5 gr. driving a 130 grainer in a .270 Win. to 2748 fps and a 150 grainer in a .30-06 to 2787 fps using a max of 41.0 gr.
