layin on the smackdown
I don't want anyone to take any kind of offense to this, but im curious as to where all the forum participation went... I know i haven't been around much in the last 1 1/2 years, but i had some personal and family issues to get ironed out, and now that they are, ive been spending more time on here again... Ive noticed that hardly any threads get 10 replies...a year or so ago, it wouldn't take half a day to get 10 replies to any given thread (i guess depending on the relevance of the thread), but now, ive gone through and noticed that most die quickly with less than a hand full of replies...Whats the deal? At first i thought maybe it was just me, or members on here just don't like my threads, and that may be true, but it is also evident that just about every other thread started in any given room gets 50 - 200 views and hardly any feedback/participation/replies. Any suggestions or am i just losing my mind? dan
Hoosierbuck
Been busy, here, too. I never was a big poster. Mostly just pop in and read a bit unless I really have something to say. Always been my m.o., but now less time on my hands means less time and posting. Cycle of life, bro. HB
deer slayer
I've been trying to post as much as I possibly can, and I've noticed all the things you mentioned to, like all the posts getting ALOT of views but no posts.

wtnhunt
Seems some think facebook activity has a lot to do with the drop in activity here, may be right. Just my opinion, but think some of the complaining that was going on also turned some off. Agree with Martin, those of us here should make the best of it. Shaun_300
I agree with William, I think facebook has taken popularity over forums now a days. When I joined back in 2004 there was no such thing as facebook, and this forum was rockin'. Couldn't keep up with all the threads. But like the others said lets all enjoy it for what it is, I still enjoy it!

swohiodave
Could be a number of reasons. Life goes on, it always seems to drop down right about the end of deer season then picks back up in the spring.
stevebeilgard
life keeps changing. it may come around again, so i'll wait. we still have a pretty good crew here.
hoosierhunter
Seems some think facebook activity has a lot to do with the drop in activity here, may be right. I never really thought of this since I do not have a facebook or any social media accounts, but I think it's a valid point. Many others as well. I do not think it will ever turn back to what it was. I do agree that there seems to be a great deal of views but no one takes the time to reply anymore. I know it's personally affected my posting of pics in the photo room but that's just me.... toddyboman
Seems some think facebook activity has a lot to do with the drop in activity here, may be right. I don't think FB has as much to do with it..... I am on a couple other forums and they don't have a decline in activity.......both are very active. Kinda like RT use to be.... Just my opinion, but think some of the complaining that was going on also turned some off. I think this is more of the reason than anything else...... wyohunter
i have always bounced around, sometimes Im on the site alot, sometimes i go months without checking in...... we lost some good members in the last few years which hurt the forum, and i do think the popularity of facebook and other sites has taken a toll
RangerClay
I think the inactivity is kind of like a cancer that keeps eating away at the place. With less activity there is no reason for people check back every day. A couple times I have come in here to check things out and find the same top 10 threads in the Lounge day after day. So I say to myself lets will see whats going on elsewhere like Facebook or another forum. Give the readers something new to read and comment on. For example bring back the Chris & Tom photochop wars
Turkeygirl
You think it's dead in here...try the women's forum, lol! It's frustrating but we must keep on keeping on. I know work takes up alot of my time so I don't get on every day. I know, I haven't gotten injured lately so no stories to tell, LOL:-p

I have never seen any other place on the internet where grown men cry and whine so much at some point. To many people take things way to personal on here. To many people complain about things, yet dont try and fix them theirselves. Time to man up and make a change if its needed. People want more conversation, start posting more. I also think people waited and waited for the 'changes' to happen when we all sent in emails to Scott. I didnt see anything come of that. But I could care less. I dont give a rip who mods what and what they do, I choose to come here and I can choose to leave if its not how I think it should be. When folks start taking responsiblity for their own actions, we will see a large improvement here. Until then, it will be nice and quiet with people wondering why no one is posting much. Drop your grudges and get on with life. Afterall, this is only the internet, we are all made up people.

muggs
Well, here is what happened. I stopped posting as much, and not coincidentally, the overall quality of the forums suffered because of it. Threads weren't nearly as funny or interesting. The number of female members dropped off significantly...and some even say Realtree's overall profit margin took a hit. So, even though I'm really busy all day, I'm trying to make an effort to come around more often for you folks.

I must admit, I have moved on recently.......I know, it's sad and sometimes it keeps me up at night knowing I have sort of betrayed my first love but I had to find greener pastures. The other forum that I frequent now is buzzing with activity, hundreds of posts made on a weekly basis, great "converstaions" take place without people running off and crying.......then again, most of the members are from Texas so that would explain it. I hate it RT.....but I really had no choice. I was bored.....and looking for some excitement and it found me.
redkneck
I spend more time these days on my state forums as well, but still try to come in here and post most every day on something. Don't know what it is, but sure is a steady decline in participation in the few years I have been a member here. Lots of other social media sites, let alone all the state boards that have popped up. 92xj
Hmmmm......tell us what you really think Ben! People need to hear the truth. I, as you, have moved on. The 3 other hunting forums I am on have exploded the last year or more. Tons of daily post, people giving others crap, and lots of folks laughing and having fun. I still come around to check up on things, read what people have to say and try and post a time or two. I have met some damn good people on these forums, some I will call friends for life, some I will hunt with in the future and others I would give them my last dollar if needed. Those folks won't be forgotten and in no way would I abandon them by never coming back.
