I know for me personally, when I first joined here, I was a freshman in college, so I had a lot of down time...both in and out of class;)...so I would come on here a lot. It was also a time, were i was first getting serious about hunting so I wanted to learn everything I could. Now, I have a full time job and posting on forums and such just isn't on the top of my list anymore. I drop in here at least once a week to see whats going on and I still participate in the contests but Im just not as into it as I used to be:(

People need to hear the truth.

I, as you, have moved on. The 3 other hunting forums I am on have exploded the last year or more. Tons of daily post, people giving others crap, and lots of folks laughing and having fun.

I still come around to check up on things, read what people have to say and try and post a time or two. I have met some damn good people on these forums, some I will call friends for life, some I will hunt with in the future and others I would give them my last dollar if needed. Those folks won't be forgotten and in no way would I abandon them by never coming back.

Glad you feel that way about me Ben........

About a year ago I got pretty active on FB and that took up a lot of my social media time. Still active on FB but find the time to come here (mostly during deer season). I like it here. Never get tired of Chris and Ohiobucks telling us all that the true Monsterbucks are all in Ohio.

Been kinda painfull to stand by and watch the fire burn out of this site. I think a few of the personal squabbles that took place a while back left a lot of sideline members choosing sides and therefore being a bit more selective in who they posted or replied to. Seems like that kinda snowballed and pretty soon posting was cut down to next to nothing so nobody felt like they were betraying anybody or playing favorites.

For me it just got old whatching everybody "taking their balls and going home" whenever a bit of controversy arose. When that spilled over into a few members who couldn't post in the same thread without a personal attack between them, well....that wasn't exactly what I signed up for.

When Scott had to come in and babysit the whole bunch, I think a lot of folks felt they had handled themselves in a mature enough manner that didn't deserve to be supervised so they moved on.

All that said, I think those in charge of the site have done a great job of keeping it respectable and appropriate to audiences of all ages willing to act their age.

Maybe it'll bounce back in the fun department...maybe it wont, but it's refreshing to see it hasn't stooped to the level of some sites just for the sake of site traffic. Just a few of my thoughts on this.

I still come through everyday & check things out but I guess I don't post as much because the conversations seem boring now. One thing I really used to love also was chatting EVERY night. There would be at least 6-10 people & good talking all around. I also kinda think people can try to play high & mighty sometimes.....but that's everywhere. Another thing is when people do post a lot of it is negative.

I have never left here. I stop in now more than ever before. I have a few years here like many. I try to stay in step with what is going on here. As far as views and replies. Well...there are google bots that visit each and every site and look for key words. Those "bots" all have their own IP. So...each view may not be a legit person viewing the thread. I could be wrong, but that is my take on that.

I like this board and as far as I am concerned. All of the "good" folks have stuck it out. It may not be an entertaining type board. But I look forward to ruttin bucks(mike) posts, William(WThunt) posts on his kids and new son, Double A (Charlie) and his long range shooting prowess, Ben stirring the pot, Chris telling us what his students have done now...Tom breaking Chris' chops...Fun stuff...Shaun giving vehicle help whenever asked...Don and his jokes about whomever don't shoot a 4,000,00 caliber.

These are few of my favorite things... here.

Lets celebrate what we all do have...not what we don't.

Heck the super bowl is on, I'm hunting in Texas and I am still stopping in here. Whats that say?

Yep. Dunno why people get so concerned so much with numbers of views. I know I have looked at this thread at least 10 times to look back at others replies, but have only posted to the thread a couple times.

Like Gregg said, still plenty of good people here.

Ditto to what William said. Not sure how many times I've viewed this to read others replies since mine too. Hard to go by view numbers vs. replies.

He still drops in from time to time. I think some of the "drama" that was mentioned in this thread earlier could involve a disagreement on what was acceptable content for this site and Steve had some strong feelings about that. Can't speak for him, but think that was when he started posting less.

Well folks, im tickled to death to see the outpouring of participation to this thread. Like stated in the first post, i wasn't trying to offend anyone - i was just simply inquiring about an observation i had noticed, and was wondering if i was losing it or if my observation was correct.

Alot of very valid points made here, some of which i was unaware of, so thanks for bringing me up to speed.

The most valid point mentioned by many, would be regarding the individuals who are here, both new and old, and not the ones who are gone. From my perspective, i believe this to be accurate and true, especially after seeing all the familiar faces who showed up and posted to this thread.

Thanks for reading, thanks for sharing, and thanks for still sticking around here...At least when i do start a thread now, i know that the audience that i use to know is still there, just a little more reserved.

thanks again -

(i still am anti facebook) :poke:

Realtree has been slow ever since the big blow up earlier last year when Scott stepped in and set some harsh rules on debates, arguements, etc. A lot of things came to light, lines were drawn and many members took their ball and went home. Sadly for the forums, many of those members were the most active ones on here. But like has been said on here already, those that are here can make or break this place. New people still sign up, but the conversation is so light, it's hard for them to break out with so little discussion. It will not get any better I'm afraid...I give it a year or so before this place slows to a post or two a day. I hope I'm wrong, but it just gets slower and slower each month.

Seems almost high schoolish, but sadly that probably holds true.

I don't do facebook either. For me it would be like making a scrape, then some old does from high school might come and pee in it. :hammer1:

No facebook here either, could see where it could be a potential invitation for problems. lol
