Custom handmade guthook knife

This is a custom guthook I finished up last week, I endearingly dubbed "The Texas Diamondback" because it nearly bit me twice! ....also, the theme of the spine filework on the back and Texas Mesquite handle with inlayed Texas State Seal - This blade is made from 416 layers of damascus steel heat treated to 58 HRC and is 9 3/4" OAL. Thanks for looking, asking $295

Nice looking knife. Do you make your own Damascus and do your own heat treating? I hear you about naming it the diamond back for trying to get you. Those gut hooks can be challenging. I like the file work and name you bestowed on this blade. Kinda fitting. Good job!

Thanks guys! I buy Damascus by the billet, trace, cut/grind from there. Once I finish my filework, I'll send it to out to be heat treated. I'm installing an oven this weekend so I can do my own heat treating very soon! Got ahold of an old art class oven for pottery that goes up to 2,200 degrees so it will be more than enough. Yeah, that blade flew off the buffing wheel and nearly took me down with it so I think it may be the last guthook I do.
