LETMGROW
A baby is born! Got the part yesterday and put it together. Getting the old joint out of the transfer case output shaft was no fun but it is done, road tested and ready to go. Was alot easier on the customer's wallett than a used part would have cost. I might even have made a dollar on the job also. Lynn
Shaun_300
Glad you got it fixed up Lynn! Yes those things are a PITA to get disconnected from the transfer case. I remember the first center bearing I had to do on one of those I was tapping the joint out of the transfer case and it separated! All the balls came flying out, took hours to get it back together! Lost my shirt and THEN some on that job...:bang:
LETMGROW
This happened to me also. Getting those things back in there is a real challenge. I expanded my vocabulary by quite a few new words. Lynn
Shaun_300
I expanded my vocabulary by quite a few new words. Lynn Ditto! God knows what I would have done to the engineer who designed that if I had 5 minutes with him!! On the newer models they're nice enough to have slots in the output shaft of the transfer case so you can actually get something BEHIND the driveshaft to tap it out in one piece. Those older ones are ridiculous, sure in Arizona where there's no salt and rust to worry about it'd be fine, but in our climate good luck getting it out without having the stupid thing separate.
