blacktailslayer
Groundbreaking DNA Tests Could Trap Poachers We all know how hard it is for law enforcement to identify poachers with the crimes sometimes happening in remote areas, little physical evidence, and little human DNA left behind. The University of Strathclyde have found a method to pick up these low levels of DNA to identify the poachers. This could be a new way for law enforcement to protect our wildlife. Stinger-Hunter
Sounds good, but they would have to already have their DNA in the records to identify them. Then would have to prove that they didn't just wander by and see something poached and kept walking. Would be tough.
blacktailslayer
They would have to check the persons house for meat in the freezer, hide, antlers to match what was found in the woods/mountains. There is an interesting story about a poacher and how he got busted with DNA soil. Ravin R10 man
poaching is huge..it goes on everywhere and more than you know, you pretty much need the meat, weapon, and round up the people involved, to make a conviction stick. In the cases Ive been involved with on my land, that is what we found,
abrown
They already use DNA to catch poachers. They take it from the poached animal and match it to the antlers. Majority of the poached animals are wanton waste crime also.
