Hey guys i have asked some questions about deer before but this time i am totally stumped on. So about 5 months ago i rode into my area where i was feedin the deer and rode in on a button buck. I used to get deer everyday on the trail cam. I had about four does and about 3 different bucks. But ever since i rode in on that deer i havent seen one deer down there. I dont think that I scared them off because for Peets sake i shot a doe in there in august and they didnt stop. I havent even seen tracks any ideas would be great. Thanks alot because i miss getting the pictures.

Maybe you got pythons..I heard they are even catching deer in florida..USA Today had an article and said the pythons are taking over..no wildlife left in some areas..found a deer in one after they cut it open 90# doe

Here is the article........explains what has happened to the deer down your way.

Baiting equals pressure.

The simple truth of the matter is that you pressured deer who have patterned you returning to the same spot time and again.

I have to agree with Mike here on this one.

Let the area sit a while and calm down. 2 weeks or so. Then go back and place your cam, be scent conciuous. You should be back in biz getting pics soon enough.

When I bait the deer come running!..lol I cant even get i nto my stand before they show up..it pulls the deer in not chases them away..they actually chase the wheeler across the field when I go in..

yea deer aren't bothered by wheelers.

there may be food closer. their route to get there from where they bed might be altered or have lots of pressure. predation could be an issue too. pythons can't make up too many deer kills. there are coyotes in Florida. it's possible some moved in and chased deer out temporarily. it's hard to say. people i know of that bait with success will often not do it on foot, but drive a vehicle. if they do go in on foot they do so at times like midday and just before they plan to hunt it. they do this on a regularly scheduled basis.

other than that it's probably hard to say what's caused the absence of deer.

This was my thought too. Sounds like maybe you harassed them too much. Tough to say. Could be like the others mentioned and it's due to food sources shifting.

The problem with that is i dont live close the the glades and i have never seen a python the biggest snake ive seen out here in 14 years is a 4 foot rat snake. Also where i had the food isnt near a swampy area. Oh yea and i have rode in on deer probably 5 or 6 times before that and that never really bothered the deer. Where i am they are used to this. A while ago me and my buddy had food between our houses and we went got the camera and put corn out. Checked it, came back and all the corn was gone with in probably 45 mins and we had more pictures. lol If any of that came out as if i had an attitude im sorry because i really dont i just dont have any other way to explain it. :)
