anewsfari
Wondering if anyone has hunted Scimitar horned Oryx in Texas and can recommend a ranch (big, fair chase). There was a feature on 60 minutes a couple weeks ago that got me pumped to go. There's talk of a new law that might prohibit bringing the trophy across state lines?? Doesn't sound right, but nothing surprises me anymore. Extinct in the wild, but hunters are keeping them thriving on game ranches.
stevebeilgard
contact the texas game & fish, and i'll bet they have a list of ranchers who allow hunting. the g&f is also the right folks to ask about taking the animal accross the borders. i smell a skunk on that one. most likely just a rumor, but check it out for the facts. Adjam5
Welcome to Realtree . I also saw that piece on 60minutes regarding the exotics in Texas. Not badly written and it didn;t make the ranchers looks bad. I just so happen to have spent some time in Texas' Hill Country a few weeks ago and made a few contacts. Been going there the last 5 years for Axis deer and hogs. All free range. Call this place...This is Exotic Wildlife association. They should to be able to connect you to a rancher that holds those type hunts. Exotic Wildlife Association If that don't work for you, I have a taxidermist/meat processor in Kerrville area that might be able to steer you to a ranch for the Oryx you speak of....and one last resort. A close friend who has a ranch and raises exotics(not Oryx) and whitetail himself in the Ingram area...All in Texas. Good Luck.
