dbHunterNY
yup i've seen that a long time ago. crazy isn't it. you have to play it with sound though. i think the guy will say how they actually climb without harnesses attached because it's faster. they just hook up to rest. also says that OSHA allows it. tallest thing i've climbed here was a ladder up the side of a 75' Harvester silo. Adjam5
I agree that is pretty crazy. I have worked at some unusual hieghts, but never at those elevations. The highest I have ever climbed was 460' to install the necklace lighting on the JFK/TriBoro bridge. We had to be clipped on with our harness' at all times. Matter of fact we had two teathers attached to our harness'. Before you disconnected one you had to attach the other. Hieghts don't bother me...its widths :clown:

ruttinbuc
I don't think I will come out of retirement for it! I don't think I'd apply today. At some point in my youth I might have. Pretty cool video

redkneck
Even if you had not one ounce of fear of heights, few of us would be fit enough to make a vertical climb like that I would imagine.
The_Kat
I have a buddy I went to college that does this. Some of the pics he posts on facebook are wicked!!!
texastrophies
I would think that rather than having a safety harness on, a parachute might be more appropriate.
pruts
Yeah that's nuts. The highest I've had to work was on a cooling stack at a cement plant I think was about 350 feet. Worst part about it was working with the welder who was putting brackets on for us when I closed my eyes so he could tack them in place I had to fight off feeling sick 'cause of the swaying the stack did and not being able see. We also have to use double lanyards and tie off all the time, second one on before the first one comes off. But there is no way I would climb a tower like that. bowhunter97
Id be scared to get 40 feet off the ground much less 17 hundred. Btw Im not good at climbing there is a wierd thing that hurts you when you fall dang whats it called ... oh yea THE GROUND. lol you couldnt pay me enough to do that. I wouldnt climb it if it was laying down. Edited February 23, 2012 by bowhunter97

Guess some just have more of a fear of heights or something. No fear of heights here...its a fear of falling That's way to high for me, especially free climbing like that...NO WAY, lol. It was a cool video, I like seeing stuff like that. No way I'd have the guts to get up there and do it though, unless maybe if I was able to wear a parachute
