hammerforged
A while back I got a message from Adjam5 about his Sportsman's Group's upcoming Friends of the NRA Banquet. It seems that they were looking around for a local knifemaker to make a knife for the auction out of some of the cable used in the construction of the 9/11 Museum and Memorial which Anthony had managed to get ahold of. Not finding anyone local the leader of the group contacted Dave Petzal of Gun Nuts and Field and Stream Magazine and Mr. Petzal gave him my name. Now I must admit that when Anthony related this to me I was taken aback because I have never met Mr. Petzal. I told Anthony I would be honored to make a knife for this endeavor. Today I got her finished. the blade and bolsters are Cable Damascus forged fromthe cable that Anthony sent me which was used in the construction of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. The Handle scales are Arizona Desert Ironwood Burl and the liners are Titanium. I used a piece of the very center core of the cable for the spine spacer for this Lady. She will be auctioned off at the Hudson Valley Friends of the NRA Banquet on March 30, 2012. Adjam5
Ross...You get better and better each year. I cannot thank you enough for your hard work and effort going into this event. The simple fact that the knife is one of yours makes it heavily desirable. Couple that to the material it was crafted with and where that material originated...You have a tremendous rare collectible piece of artwork. I have to tell ya...the way your name came up at our monthly meeting was all I needed to know how small this world really is. Since I proudly said I knew you, I got the assignment to get you what you needed to make this happen. Like always Ross. You made it happen...again. Folks...in this current political climate. It is more important than ever to make sure you/we keep alive the things we love and enjoy. Hunting and gun ownership seem to rank right up there with most of us. I am sure your county has a Friends of the NRA event happening somewhere by you. Attend these events if you can. All the money raised at these events goes right back into promoting and preserving our gun rights in your county or state. Ross thank you so much for your generosity and skills. I will keep everyone here in the loop on how well that knife does at the event. I have no doubt it will the most sought after item at the event. Happy Birthday Ross.
