WNY_Whitetailer
Even though it was raining, I went to the outdoor range anyway. I shot my Adams Arms 5.56 first but I wasn't able to get it to group well with 55 grain ammo. Things improved with 68 grain Black Hills ammo. Anyway, on to my ARP 6.8x43 upper. I loaded up some 110 grain Hornady BTHP ammo into two different mags. After dialing in the scope and burning through about 32 rounds I loaded up one last magazine of 8 and moved to a fresh target. I shot this gun better than any other AR. I attribute the flyer to the nut behind the wheel and not the gun. I can't wait to get to the range again in nicer weather. dbHunterNY
that's a nice group for an AR or any gun actually. you may need to step up to a 60gr bullet for the other. I'm a big fan of black hills ammo though. last time i shot my 223 Rem i clover leafed three shots (60gr Vmax loaded Black Hills) at 200 yards. don't expect to do that again and couldn't have done it without good ammo. heck of a group you've got. ARP must make a nice upper.
WNY_Whitetailer
ARP makes a great upper at a reasonable price. I recommend them to anyone considering a 6.8. They do other calibers as well, including the 5.56. I am going to try something in the 60 to 62 grain area for my Adams Arms. The twist on that barrel is 1:7 so it might not like the 55 gainers like my 1:9 Bushmaster does.

Adjam5
Yuuup...That is a good group. Looks like you put all the parts in the right place when you built that one . What is the twist for the Adams Arms upper? What does the ammo cost for the 6.8? Do you reload? I was considering another caliber for my new AR platform. The 300ACC Blackout is like $2 or more a round. The .50 Beowolf...you can't get uppers or ammo for it. The same with the .450 Bushmaster and the .458 SOCOM. I was leaning towards the 6.8 like you have or the .204 Ruger. Any info appreciated.

The twist on that barrel is 1:7 so it might not like the 55 gainers like my 1:9 Bushmaster does. yea 1:7 is a fast twist. i'd even think black hills 75gr Heavy Match HP or heavier hunting style bullet would even work better too. WNY_Whitetailer
I tried the 55 grainers out of my Adams Arms rifle again today just for the heck of it...Another 60 or so rounds later and the results were the same...All over the target board. I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't me...Shot the 6.8 again today and again the groups were good. No pictures this time. Adjam5...The Adams Arms is 1:7. I am going to try some heavier rounds out of her...She should settle down with something that she likes...I was just hoping that it would be the cheaper 55 grain stuff and not the more expensive heavier rounds. Oh well...You can't take it with ya. For 200 rounds of Hornady 110 grain BTHP ammo, I spend approximately $175 shipped to my house. That is the round that I shot that good group with and that is the round that I will be hunting whitetails with come November. I do not reload...At least not yet. If you want more information on the 6.8, please check out 68 Forums.com...There are a ton of knowledgeable people there with more info than I can provide. I think those big boomers are neat but the expense kept me from looking too hard.
