redkneck
Isn't It Ironic? The food stamp program, part of the Department of Agriculture, is pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of food stamps ever. Meanwhile, the Forest Service, also part of the Department of Agriculture, asks us to "please do not feed the animals" because the animals may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves. Saw that on another forum, had to share it.
wtnhunt
Yep, it is. Ironic and also pretty darned sad. Obama seems to have earned the name the "food stamp president" by some. Kinda along the same subject, anti depressant use is said to be at a level significantly greater than ever before and clinical depression is being diagnosed far greater than in the past. Go figure; high gas prices - rising inflation = escalating misery index, who would've ever thunk it. Its ok though, Obama gets up on tv every chance he gets and tells us it is getting better and about how he can relate to us all.:poke:
RangerClay
During the first year of Osama's reigh of terror we were hearing radio commercials for people to sign up for food stamps. It was the first time that I could ever remember hearing commercials like that. Americans were finally getting self sufficient and they were not happy with it. dbHunterNY
i'm sure it's helping many in need that truely need it, but i'm sure there are just as many at least who abuse it. this guy past by me the other day and asked for a dollar. he was walking into a fancy sub place where a meal will run you $8-$11. I didn't have the state of mind to tell him he should be walking back 200' to the convenience store and buying Ramen noodles for the month, if he can ask me for a dollar. truthfully i replied that i didn't have a dollar to give him at the time. Droptine redemption
Very ironic and also sad, if your willing and able to stand at the end of a off ramp all day with a cardboard sign, you can work. I'm not a cold hearted person, but there are people out there who bust there butt everyday to pay for theres.
Ravin R10 man
You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, that is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
cowboy778
What is ironic is the taxes I pay, pay my salary then get diverted to food stamps yet they only give the Military a 1% raise and yet we are 7% or greater behind the national inflation rate. So they say the people that do not work are more diserving then the people who lay their lives on the line.

The agriculture dept runs the food stamp program, and they also run the Nat'l park service. Don't they tell people not to feed the animals in the parks because they will forget how to forage themselves? Yup John...Isn't it ironic?
