Ohio school shooting

i just despise waking up to news like this. it's a pretty sad situation in america today that kids can even think of such a thing. it would never have crossed my mind as a child, to turn a gun on someone. i also believe it has to do with the loss of respect for values preached in our schools today. to pledge of allegiance, no or few flags, and of course no daily prayers or god to start our days off. i've never heard yet of a shooting at a christian school, have you?

Horrible stuff. Such a shame..

A predator taking advantage of a situation. The sad part is even he is too young to fully understand what he has done. Now he has many, many years behind bars to figure it out. Sad in so many ways.

You said it there bud. Sad for all involved. No justice or making right in these cases.

Heard this morning of the two in critical condition one has been said to be brain dead.

This is one of those type cases where I think a juvenile could or should be tried as an adult and receive adult penalties. Agree on a punk at that age not being able to fully comprehend the magnitude of hurt his actions caused, but sounds like he planned out and knew exactly what he was doing ahead of time in which case he deliberately murdered at least one person likely two and intended on killing several more.

Very very sad and senseless, could not imagine the pain those parents are going through.

Was just flipping through the channels and a Cleveland channel we get just said that three teens died in hospital.

I think Steve is somewhat right kids don't have near as much respect as they did in the past. I'm only 31 and even I notice a difference in attitudes of young people now. I know as a young lad I was scared to go home if I screwed up even a little, and I know my father would have no issues with anyone straightening me out if I deserved it. I never would even imagine something like that happening when I was in school.

Wishing all the best to all the victims and their families.

There are still a lot of good kids out there. You can't pile them all into one heap. Martin is right about the ways of the world today. At a recent sports show there were more kids at the COMBAT area. Kids were lined up with their imitation black guns waiting for their chance to capture the flag. Very little activity at the hunting and fishing demonstration areas. To me this is disturbing.

Where do you place the blame? At home?

Have not heard how the other 2 kids are doing, but the 2 in critical condition did die along with the one who died where he was shot. Heard yesterday the prosecutor would probably try to seek adult charges. With 3 counts of murder the punk should never be free.

Yep. Real sad how things go and agree on lumping all kids together, good and bad out there and it all goes back to their raising. Just my opinion, and may not be relevant with this shooter, but too many kids these days are left alone to raise themselves while their "parents" are off doing whatever. Dunno about the story about this kid in particular, but a 17 year old knows right and wrong and also knows once you end a life there is no bringing back that life. Don't care how many "shoot'em up games" a kid plays, at 17 they know the difference in a living person and a game and that or the "victim of bullying" or other society condtions are lame excuses. Hate to sounds cynical because there are a lot of fine people out there, but seems there are a lot more people(not just kids) these days that just don't care about others like they did 20 or 30 years ago. Morals and ethics these days, like common courtesy are just not as common as they used to be and that is incredibly sad.
