And waited I did!! nine hours into my hunt I connected with a Gobbler IN FULL STRUT..FOLLOWING A HOT HEN:

Got in my blind at 5:30 am, very quiet morning. I put no decoys out. At 8 am had two hens come thru...I called every hour or so, as Im set up in a strut zone. About 2 pm I got a response off my hot hen yelp..he didnt gobble again until 2:45 when a hen popped out onto the plot..then another hen..then a third hen and she starts yellping her fool head off!! Every time she does the Gobbler sounds off!! Live decoy!!..she comes up the plot past me and out pops Mr Gobbler all fanned out...he comes up the plot full strut all the way..walks right into my sights..BANG!!!

We had 4 tags to fill today and everyone killed a good Gobbler from 21 to 23# 8 & 9 inch beards one double beard 8" & 4"

The weather may not be the best in Iowa.... rain today, however, I'm gonna buy a 2nd season license for April 20 - 24 (Friday-Tues). I have two pop-ups set up for the past 2 weeks and two "round bale" blinds so hopefully I'll stay dry. Hopefully that blackpowder shotgun will echo trough the valley early tomorrow. Off to Nebraska next week. I will also buy a 4th season license in Iowa May 2 - 20.

Congrats to all. Note: only toms here... no jakes.

good luck to all

the dog.
