bowhunter97
i recently made a poll on hunting or fishing. And all but one chose hunting so now bow or gun hunting?
dbHunterNY
it's just a different experience while bowhunting. when you have deer within 10 yards everything is happening around you and you're very much a part of the world your game animal is in. with gun hunting there's a little bit of a disconnect. you're here and the animal is out there. Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
This is a tough one. While I love bowhunting, I have very little access to any land to hunt during bow season. When gun season comes around I get a full week in. I agree that getting the deer close usually makes bowhunting more exciting, but for me in at our camp in the U.P. that we hunt for that week during gun season, most shots are going to be within 30 yards no matter what weapon you use. I use a muzzleloader with open sight and took one deer at around 50-60 yards with it, since then I started hunting the thicker areas of the woods and have taken 4 other deer, none farther than 30 yards. I'm going to say gun hunting I guess, just for the fact that we plan an annual trip around that season every year. But it is just like the hunting/fishing thread, I love to do both and it's hard to pick just one.
cowboy778
I like the level of skill involved for Bow hunting. Scent Control to scouting and trying to figure out where the deer will cross to what time of day etc. Getting the deer in close, heart beating, wind blowing, making an accurate shot depending on you can get the deer in the right spot... Man much more exciting then a 300yd shot. Don't get me wrong I love to go out with my rifle just something about bow hunting that brings you closer to the true meaning of fair chase. Dawg
Not sure I could pick one over the other. Getting a deer at 10 yards and shooting one at 300 yards takes skill and gives me the same type of rush.
Adjam5
I have to go with the stick n string. Bow hunting gives me the rush and shortness of breath I don't get when the animal is 100yds or better away. I love the challenge of having to draw my bow in the animals prescense...making scent control a factor...watching behavior that our deer not do do in gun season. Bow hunting all the way. rhine16
Bow or Gun hunting Bow. Gun didn't make it out of the closet this past season and it won't next year.

gzilla45
Gun hunted for about 15 years before I took up bow hunting. I never thought the day would come where I liked bow hunting more but that sure is the case now. Like others I just gun hunt to hang out with my family and don't take it nearly as serious as I used to.
wtnhunt
Love getting them close and to be honest several of the bucks I have killed with gun have been close enough I could have shot them with the bow. I enjoy shooting the bow, but for whatever reason(think it is a timing thing for the most part) have not had any luck when it comes to bucks when I have had the bow in my hand. That said, muzzleloader is probably my favorite season because that is the time when things usually get really going.

Ravin R10 man
Ive always said I'd choose bow hunting over gun any day!!..the excitement level is so much higher being up close on a mature animal...the anticipation, the timing of the draw, the execution of the shot..the follow through, tracking and recovery...I could go on and on...
