30-30 versus .35 remington

Recommended Posts

Hey all. A friend has been looking at some Marlin lever action rifles, and

caliburs for them. I believe he doesn't need any huge calibur, just something that could reach out to 200 yards or less. I see Hornady has a fairly new ammo line up called leverulation, or something like that name, that is kinda of for the tube design on levers. Thanks for any help and poinions.

I have a Marlin 30-30 and my dad has one in .35 Rem. If your friend has any wishes to hunt something bigger than deer than I would recommend the .35 Win. If its just for deer than the 30-30 will do.

Be sure to get some of the Honady LeveRevolution ammo for your new gun. I have been using it since it has been introduced. It is great ammo, I shoot flatter and better patterns.

Nothing wrong with any of the above mentioned, I would personally go with a bolt gun, but if he is dead set on a lever, then I would go with Lynn's suggestion of the 308 Marlin Express. Hard to argue with 308 proven performance in a rimmed cartridge.

I just never got onto the 35 bandwagon. :D
