what's your favorite rifle?

only choosing from rifles i own....

varmints.... savage model 12, thumbhole laminate stock, stainless action/barrel, 223 Rem; so accurate it gives you ridiculous confidence. i've cloverleafed shots at 200 yards.

for deer...... browning abolt stainless hunter in 30-06; handles better than any other bolt action rifle i've set my hands on. it doesn't shoot much better than 1.5 moa with what ammo i've tried but it handles so well it doesn't matter.

Man, so hard to pick just one of my rifles, I like them all equally! Each serve their own purpose though. I have an old Browning FN .220 Swift I love target shooting and varmint hunting with. For a 1956 rifle it looks and shoots like it's right out of the box brand new. Drives tacks!

I have a Ruger M77 Mark II .25-06 Remington I also like target shooting with because of the accuracy. Also use it for deer when I'm hunting in open fields and pests.

For big game, moose and deer I use a Browning BLR .300 WSM, I love that rifle. Nice and light, short action magnum caliber, fast shooting and very accurate. Very nice rifle to carry around the bush deer hunting.

Go to gun for deer hunting has been my remington model 700 in .270 topped with nikon monarch 3-9x40. Oldest daughter has in the past couple years claimed that gun for hers though, she takes it over her browning a bolt every time I let her.

Think I am gonna have to buy a new model 700, should have just enough time to get it broke in good for my boy.

Double AA long time no see or hear. Was it on www.huntingnet.com or www.huntingresource.com/ when we chatted ? Beautiful custom builds there, love the digital camo, is that a dipped film coating? Who did that for you? In regards to the OP question on favorite rifles, I enjoy my Rem Mod 722 in 222 Rem and 10 X Leupold for varmits. I also have a Herters J9 sporterized mauser 6mm Rem for deer and coyotes. My go to rifle right now is a LH Rem Mod 700 30/06 with a Redfield 3x9. There have been several new used purchases that have not made it to the range yet, A Tikka T3 .300 WSM with Burris 4.5x14x42 BDC scope purchased for my son. It has a Colo 5x6 elk to it's credit. A Browning A Bolt hunter LH .300 WSM with Nikon Pro Staff 3x9x50, and Browning Medallion LH 7mm WSM with a Nikon Monarch 3x12 x42 which needs rings lapped and mounted and last but not least a LH Browning A Bolt SS Stalker .338 Win mag with a Nikon 3x12x42 BDC reticle, needing rings lapped and mounted. Hope those last 4 do well on the rifle range and western elk hunts. Also picked up a Ruger Super Redhawk SS 44 mag with red dot scope for carrying while scouting elk in grizzly bear country. Although they say Pepper Spray is the best medicine for surprise attacks, the big 240 gr JHP gives me greater sense of "real safety" ! I do carry pepper spray on hikes in the wstern NP's, Glacier, GTNP and Yellowstone. Last time I had a grizz at 20 yds taking photos, the pepper spray was in the backpack in the Suv, LOL, not good ! Glad he and I showed mutual respect for each other that day ! My gut feeling is the Browning Hunter LH 300 WSM or the 7mm WSM will be my new long range favorites. Previous owner said the Browning .300 WSM gave a 1" group at 200 yds. Looking forward to some range time. Good hunting folks. :cowboy:

Double A thank you for the welcome as well as Cole 14. AA I think we met originally on huntingnet.com chat then again on huntingresource. Yes I have been in Realtree chat here a few times, only a few folks were there. Strut 10, I used to hunt Indiana county a lot when younger on SGL 174 near Urey. Drove up RT 422 to Indiana then Rt 286 to Glen Campbell, I actually had relatives in Glen Campbell then. Unfortunately they have passed away. I miss hunting that area. Good hunting all !:boo::cowboy:
