LifeNRA
Just got back from the official scorer, I missed the Boone & Crocket Awards Program by 1.75". Doesn't matter though, still a buck of a lifetime! The official score is 158 2/8". Gross was 164 3/8". Stinks that the deductions kill what the buck actually grew. Oh well I never even thought I would get this close! Anyways, hope everyone had a good season!
hoosierhunter
NRA- I have a quote I live by when it comes to any of my bucks antlers: "Nets are for fishes" It's alot like all the statistical baseball purest that base every decision on what a stupid piece of paper says instead of looking at the overall big picture. That's why none of my bucks are entered in any book. I have all their official score sheets from my buddy who's a scorer, but none of them will ever be entered. Rhino
NRA- I have a quote I live by when it comes to any of my bucks antlers: "Nets are for fishes" Yep that goes for me too...but I did enter 1. Great buck...congrats again for your buck of a life time!!!
ruttinbuc
A great buck regardless! My archery antelope from the Bucks for Buckee hunt in 2008 missed Pope and Young by 1"...Ya' know what. I can give a rat's behind. The experience is all that matters and I thank god I was able to participate in a great hunt with friends. Sure, it would have been nice to make it, but the numbers thing is just that. A number. Congrats on a buck of a lifetime!
dbHunterNY
maybe someday some of us will get one that big. that is most definitely a trophy for anyone and anywhere.
Droptine redemption
Great deer overall, you dont need a piece of paper to tell you so. Most people would be lucky to ever get a deer like that! Congratulations:D
Stinger-Hunter
Holy heart attacks. I can tell you right now that I would have missed that buck. I would have fallen right out of the tree stand. Guaranteed.
wtnhunt
Doesn't matter though, still a buck of a lifetime! I agree. So much for the books, thought I had a book antelope, but it shrank just enough to fall a few inches short after they boiled the horns off. Still proud of it as I know you are of your deer. Congratulations again on that great buck John.
LifeNRA
Thanks guys! I did make the PA record book. Some thing like 169th in the state since records were being recorded. But its just a number. This deer will always be 164 incher in my mind.

Tominator
A good deer, is a good deer, no book can tell you your trophy doesn't measure up. I think it's just nice to know the official score more for curiosity than anything. Congrats, still an awesome buck.

fly
Got a 200 lb. black bear in 2010 (have never measured the skull) - had a full mount done. Scoring is fun and can add to the hunting experience, but it really doesn't matter to me if an animal makes it into a book. I have a B&C whitetail entered and for a year had the certificate up next to it. After that year I moved it and the certificate now sits in a desk. LifeNRA
I call this buck, "YNK" buck. After what my father has been saying to me since I was 12 years old. He has always been telling us, "You never know". He is right, because you really never know what or when will walk by. Those three words has made me stay in the woods longer than anything else. They mean more today than ever, he still hunts with me and I with him. He is 72 years old and a die-hard deer hunter. Which I am proudly to name this buck after his words he has used all these years!
