Jeramie
I sold one rifle I never shot and put a little more back to spend on a new toy. Im not sure what I want. I have $800 to spend right now. Im kind of open to Cal. My primary hunting gun is a custom .243 (Ruger M77) that I load and shoot out to 400 yards. Im really looking for something different, dont want to buy the same rifle Here is a short list of rifles locally im looking at. Opinions are great.... Ruger M77 (1983 model, tang, orange pad) in .30-06 Ruger M77 Bull barrel in .25-06 Remington 700, Varmint (chrome) bull barrel, .22-250 Remington VTR in .300win mag Savage 110 (Accu trigger) in .308 How Axiom Open to others too.... input porfavor! What would you buy right with $800... (even if its not on the above list)
wtnhunt
Model 700 in .30-06. On an $800 budget you could get a model 700 and still have some $ leftover to put toward glass.
cowboy778
What are you using it for? Deer maybe Elk someday etc. I tend to buy a rifle for its use. Deer for me is .270. Elk I am looking at .300 or 7mm. I have not decided. I like the Rem 700, but I am looking at the Savage with the Accu Trigger. I did reviews and straight out of the box most the reviews say the Savage is the most accurate for that price range. I also considered the Tikka. rage man
savage I would buy a savage with the accu trigger. For varmit 22-250. For bigger game .308. Or 25-06. I have all three of these and I love em. You will spend between five and six hundred. Then put a Nikon on top. still under budget.
RangerClay
MY choice would be a BLR Lightning but since you are looking at bolt action guns, my second choice would be an Browning X-bolt. I see Gunbroker has them in the $700 range depending on caliber. X-Bolt Hunter, Accurate Bolt Action Deer Elk Big Game Varmint Hunting Rifle, Browning Firearms Product
Jeramie
By the way guys... forgot to mention, I already have primary deer and varmint rifles. This is just a playtoy. It wont necessarly be ear marked for anything in particular. Just looking for something new.
Gator
AR type weapon, prefrably in
dbHunterNY
AR type weapon, prefrably in 308 yup an AR i wouldn't necessarily say a 308 either though... an AR-15 would be fun too. windham weaponary has some that you could possibly get from a dealer for $800 or you could shop for uppers, lowers, and other stuff separately. doubleA
Something in .223, could be a walking variminter like a CZ 527 to a heavier tacical type rifle as in a M700 5R or Savage 10fp. They are fun to shoot and with the right twist can shoot way out there with heavies. Lots of cheap factory ammo if you dont handload, if you do it's fairly economical. Stinger-Hunter
Get a Browning BAR. Right at your limit. Grab a decent scope from one of your other rifles and get out there.
Leo
Honestly a pretty broad arsenal already. Here's an option. Don't buy another gun, if you can upgrade the glass for one of the other guns.
Adjam5
How about a TC Encore in whatever caliber you want. Just keep adding barrels in the future. Get a black powder one, rifle one and a shotgun one too! OR... Get an AR style rifle in economical .223/5.56...get one in .204 Ruger or if you want that .30cal power in a AR/5.56 size reciever.... one in 300AAC Blackout.
