2010 Mount with antler repair

Thats a nice rack, but I would have left it as is.

Just curious if you would have left it broke on this one or on any mount that was broke? Reason? My view is as long as one has another side to mirror and get close to the way it really was then go for it. Taxidermy is all about making it look as it once did and at one time that antler was there.

If it broke after the hunter shot it, then yes a repair would be in order. I have many deer come into the shop with broken tines and 9 out of 10 the customer wants it left as is. It gives the deer uniqueness. Taxidermy is about preserving a memory, a hunt, an experience to be remembered.

I will agree! Also it tells a story and it makes you wonder just how he broke it. Likely fighting... It is true you have a few less inches of bone to how off, but I personally would not fix it. it shows he was a stud, and a fighter! Great buck either way, and the repair does look good.
