20 Gauge Choke/Shell combo?

I bought some Winchester High Velocity 3" #5's a few weeks back. Shot them through the factory full choke in my Benelli Nova 20 gauge. I got 45 pellets on a 9x16 target. I know the target is small, but that pattern is still horrible. The season starts in 8 days, and I'm hoping to order some different shells and a turkey choke before it starts. I'm trying to decide between Hevi-Shot Hevi-13 3" #7 with 1-1/4 oz. and Federal Mag-Shok Heavyweight 3" #7 Shot with 1-1/2 oz. Which do you prefer? I'm also totally clueless on what choke for my Benelli. Thanks for your opinions!

Pure Gold ported turkey choke works good with my Benelli Supernova, but it's a 12ga and not your gun. I've used different hevi-shot loads and had good results. also, have a bunch of the Federal shells too. they have a very stiff flite-control wad though and you don't want to use a ported choke for those. Pure Gold also makes an unported version called the Tempest turkey choke for that ammo.

indian creek chokes work well too.

there's a prostaffer on here that uses a Nova 20ga with a Pure Gold ported choke and Hevi 13 #6's.

What's a good setup for a Remington 870 20 ga? I have one and was gonna set it up for a backup turkey gun. And I don't wanna spend over ab 40 for choke and shells

every gun/choke combo might shoot different, even if the gun/choke combo are of the same models. $40 for both choke and shells isn't much, most of your options are chokes that aren't hardened to shoot high density loads. also lead loads are cheaper than high density loads. Primos Tightwad choke and HS Strut Undertaker High Density turkey choke are some options. Then buy some lead loads in something like 3" #5's; Rem Nitro Turkey or Winchester Supreme Hi-Velocity.

another even cheaper option would be to use your stock flush chokes for IC and Mod. Then pick up Federal Mag-Shok 3" #5 loads with the Flite-Control wad. This idea won't blow off the turkey's head with a super ridiculously tight pattern but with an open choke it'll throw nice even patterns that are more than enough to put the bird down every time out to 30 yards or so.

Wife and daughter shoot a remington 870 youth 20 gauge, I put a tru glo gobbler stopper choke tube on the gun, it patterns better with 3 inch remington nitro #5's than it does with the 3 inch winchester supreme #5's. My winchester which is a 12 gauge with the factory extra full turkey choke patterns better with the winchester supreme's.
