Getting ready to hit the shwer last nite and there he was. Rotten boogers !!! Stuck in my right side about 1 rib up from the bottom. This is the first one that's ever given me the classic "bullseye rash" around the bite. Called the Doc and have an anti-biotic coming.

These things just suck !!! We never had ANY problems here with ticks until about 3 years ago. NONE. Now............you can't do ANYTHING or go ANYWHERE outsidee but what you're either picking them off yourself or digging one out of your hide.

Rotten boogers !!!!!

Surprised with all the snow you guys get you have them out this early up there. Afraid they are gonna be real bad here this year.

We got VERY little snow this year and had VERY mild winter temps. That suited me just fine. But the ticks were an issue every month throughout the winter. If it was 30 degrees or warmer, you were picking them up when in the woods.

I don't think a cold winter -vs- a warm winter has anything to do with tick numbers. We had a MISERABLE winter in 2010-11 and the tick numbers did not subside a whit.

Guess the idea that cold winters kills off the bugs may not be so accurate?

Christina pulled one off herself Saturday afternoon(she mostly sat on the 4 wheeler), had one crawl over my boot while I was working on fences. Figured I would find a few on me, but got lucky I guess, maybe chainsaw oil on my pantlegs helped keep them off, dunno?

cases with ticks and lyme has gone up by around 30% in the NY county i live in. they're going to be bad again this year everybody is figuring, just like the years to come probably. didn't get to it, but this week i'll spray some of my outside/work clothes with Sawyer's permethrin that i picked up. Good thing you caught it quick Don.

Don, hope they gave you a high dose (300-400mg) of Doxycicline for about a month or 5 weeks. If you have a doctor unwilling to prescribe an adequate med/dose, you need to find a different doc. It is nothing to fool around with. Hope all goes well. If you feel ill at all, you will need more meds asap!!! Good Luck Buddy.

The ticks up here are horrible. Last hunting season my dad and I probably took 2-4 ticks off of our clothes every day hunting.

I only wish the ticks here were that "horrible".

Was out tracking an archery deer for a cousin one night back in November and was picking ticks CONSTANTLY. Picked over a dozen off my pants at one time !!!

Stock in permetherin is going up.

We have tics bad here anyway. This year the snow and cold pretty much didnt happen. We are already breaking 85deg so its not looking good for tic season. I pulled a big fat one from my daughter's head about three weeks ago...

Skeeters are HORRIBLE not too. Our part of the world got almost 14" of rain last week and now there is standing water eveywhere.
