clutch22
I'm hoping somebody can help me out here. I just got my first crossbow. I zeroed it perfectly and it was definitely a precision instrument. A week later I go to zero it and not only was it way off but it wouldn't group nice and tight for me at first. After about 9 bolts my groups came back nice and tight but still way off. I re zeroed it but it happened again a few hours later. Got it zeroed again but I don't know why this is happening. I am an Army sniper and I know how to shoot well so I am wondering if this is common?
jesse8953
What kind of crossbow is it.I read that the excaliber string strech when they are new.I know that if you don't cock a crossbow the same it will through it off.I use a cocking rope. That way I know I pull the same on the right and left side of the string. Flintlock1776
That is what I was thinning, the cocking of the strings may be off.
krystens22887
Make sure that your rope cocker is tight up against the rail on both sides and pull back evenly. I had that issue because my dominate side is stronger so I had been pulling it crooked and I had the same issues :-(
bryonheath
crossbow issues Clutch with all Bows and crossbows when there new there is a little break in period the strings need to stretch out and all the bushings need a little wearing in but with crossbows and the amount of tension/force applied to all the parts are tremendous first make shure you keep your strings waxed good and always lube the flight rail every 5 shots to ensure the strings don't wear prematurely a few drops of rail lube on each side spread with your finger will do just fine. Second after about 50-100 shots bring it to your shop you bought it from and have them check your cam alignment it might need adjusting do to the strings stretching . And after all is said and done I would recommend a crank style cocking device they will make it easyer to load and unload it and will make your shots more consistent and easyer to get better groups. The problem with string cockers is that if you apply more pressure to one side or just not keeping it consistent it will throw off your shot resulting in bad shots. I shoot a ten point x2 with a accudraw cocking device and have never had a problem with it and have hade it for ten years now and it still shoots perfectly
clutch22
crossbow issues Thanks for all the comments. I spoke with Horton as well as my local pro shop and Horton sent me a premium string. The pro shop adjusted my cams which were a little off. Going to shoot today so we'll see how it goes. clutch22
crossbow issues It seems that the original string stretched a bit and the pulley timing was off a little bit but now it is shooting with near same hole accuracy. Actually have wrecked 4 bolts since the fix because they are hitting each other!
