Hunt or be Hunted
Picked about 20 pictures out of 300+ Shiloh was a true eye opener for me. It really took me and others back to what they went through, What it felt like. I wish I could re-live it. Best reenactment I've ever been to. Below are some pictures from this past weekend, To hopefully give you a look at what it was like in the 1860's. First one is of our camp early Friday morning. It was raining, And they had a battle going on that the time! Next one is of the REAL early Saturday morning battle. Getting lined up and ready to head out on the march. I'm the one in the white. This one is of us marching into the smoke and haze! All smoke. Really takes you back... The troops walking into the valley of the unknown. The sun is shining through all the smoke.. This is the picture of the roads we had to deal with the whole time. Taking a break before the afternoon battle. I'm in the white and green.. Blue line. Last but not least.. Ultradog
Thanks for posting this. Shiloh was the battle that really put General Grant in Lincoln's favor. There were lots and lots of calls for Grant's dismissal after Shiloh but Lincoln made the comment which later became famous; "I can't spare General Grant. He fights!" I reread Grant's memoirs this winter. If you want a good history of the war - from his perspective - I recommend it. Though my own historical focus is on the WWII war in the Pacific, I've always enjoyed reading about the Civil War too. By the way, Colonel Jimmy Doolittle and his men had their B25s loaded onto the USS hornet on April 1st and are now on their way west to bomb Tokyo on April 18th. One of the most daring raids of the war happened 70 years ago about this time.

Adjam5
Very cool pics Jeramie...Thanks for sharing them. I think it is awesome how everyone there is volenteer, and has such a affinity for history. That really helps keep it alive, and teaches us about our past. Hunt or be Hunted
Cool pics. That's lots of folks. So how does one know when he has been shot? good question! do you coordinate it some how? hit each other with paper wading? lol Most of the time, You take a hit when you want, Either that or you run out of ammo, You take a hit. Or before battle, You get a group of guys together and think up of a canon hit, Ect. lol. Very cool pics Jeramie...Thanks for sharing them. I think it is awesome how everyone there is volenteer, and has such a affinity for history. That really helps keep it alive, and teaches us about our past. Yepp, Its ALL volunteer. For your clothes, Ammo box, Cap box, Brogans, ect, Costs about $400 or so. Gun will run you around $500-$700. Pound of powder will run you about $26. Not cheap, But well worth it!!!
